CD Player Modifications. Is it worth the ? Wow, I had an Aiwa XC-30M 5 disc carousel. I guess I should have never sold it to my brother for $25, LOL. It just had too many blinking buttons and noisy loading sound when it shuffled discs. I think this was the forerunner of the XC-35Ms and XC-...
Hsu or yamaha sub? Hsu has lots of low bass energy for the $$$. Great for HT. Though I'd probably get something else for music.
my girlfriend & I tried over 10 diff positions Man is that ever blantant false advertising or what? LOL. I had my little brother over the other week and he brought over some CDs since he wanted to listen to my system. He was so amazed at the soundstage, even on my modest system. then after sev...
Rap music on high-end speakers Amen Queg.Great music on good speakers is like a drug. And we'll all addicted! It doesn't matter what type you listen to, so long as you enjoy it. Cheers and happy listening!
Where R U????? I'm from Cleveland,Ohio.Very close to Hopkins airport. I live in a little suburb called Brook Park, OH (44142) which is 10 miles south west (mostly south) of downtown Cleveland. I used to haunt Hi-Tech Hi-Fi on Mayfield Road, a local highend 2 cha...
Need remote control advice The Theater Master SL-9000 learning remote is supposed to have a very strong IR signal. I have a Marantz RC2000 mk1, myself. But considering how expensive it was ($250 new, $75-100 used) I can't recommend it over the SL9000, which seems to cost fa...
New gears? Yep 2.73s were a joke. If I remember right with 2.73s and a t5 5speed, I would only pull 1200rpm @ 60MPH in top gear. Pretty much only a fast idle for a windsor 302ci. You'd get awesome fuel economy. But who cares about fuel economy on a muscle ca...
"naked" listeners Swifer *charged* cloths. I clean my speaker cabinets, cones, and "gear" with them. Though technicaly I use the Endust badged product, since I can get it a little cheaper in my area.
New gears? New gears? Only for my Ford Mustang! I like 3.73:1 gears the best. They really get you in the powerband quick. And when I'm not "banging gears," I can haul most of my gear in the back with the seats down (sans speakers). All my gear. Though I wish...
Any tricks to keep cats away from speaker grills? My tactic is a dedicated room with a shut door. I ended up conditioning them to never enter that room (different color carpet). So in case I do leave the open, they usually stay out. And they know I mean business too. I lost several cone surrounds...
Vandersteen 1C with 2Wq or 2Ce Sig or 3A ?? Budget is roughly $1500USD. Though I'd like to save some of that and apply the remainder towards a better DAC. I'm guessing the DAC will have to wait. :-)I appreciate the input, guys. How's the sound quality difference between the 1C, 2Ce, and 3A?...
What is stopping the ultimate? A new playback format designed for Audiophiles! Yeah speakers need lots 'o work in the execution dept., too. And quickly while I'm on the discussion speakers, I would like to see a ESL that has the bass slam of a dynamic speaker using cones. Flat ...
Component with most effect on soundstage/imaging? 1.Speakers, 2.Amp, 3.Pre, 4.DAC, 5. Power conditioning, 6. Power cables, 7.Rack, 8.???, 9.???, 10. Interconnects.Speakers include placement in the room as well as the room and it's treatments. If you don't get the first part right, it will never i...
Rock and Roll System Man. Talking about rock on Dunlavy V's me drool. I can only imagine what that must be like. So what amps are the Dunlavy V's owners using to push the V's?
Where do you sit? Wow! Beanbags are pretty popular. I may have to investigate those. My recliner has a relatively "high back." I'm sure that isn't the best thing to have a few CM right behind my ears. I imagine a beanbag would alleviate that, hence their popularity! |
