What is the most memorable concert that you had attended so far?
The The in Boston at the Paradise, circa 1987. It was their first time in the U.S. and they had been playing big stadiums in Europe. Since few in the U.S. had heard of them at this point, the promoter only booked 3 shows, LA, Boston, and NY, all i...
Chinese phono pre
I'm still happy with my Jolida JD-9. Lots of gain, loading, and capacitance flexibility and easy to mod with socketed op amps and 12A_7 tubes. I've never had the desire to upgrade.

Technics SP 15 SP 25
Lewm, my SP-15 works perfectly and I believe it's stock, but I saw many malfunctioning units before I bought mine. I wouldn't hesitate to recap if that changed in the future. And my name really is Armstrong, so good call.   :-)
Technics SP 15 SP 25
I also own both, and while the SP-15 is audibly better, it also has more tweaky electronics. Mine still works fine, but many don't. A fully functioning SP-25 is better than a dodgy SP-15. Totally convenient they fit in the same plinth.
Forte 4A vs Monarchy SM-70 (std model) in bridged mode
I heard the Forte 4A and purchased the Monarchy SM-70s; there was no comparison. I used two in bridged mode as monoblocks and with speakers like my Von Schweikert they were terrific. Once I switched to high efficiency speakers, the noise floor was...
Timbernation Rack - Very Pleased
I've owned one of Chris's racks for years, and it's traveled all over the country with me. Solid, beautiful, and affordable.
Atma Sphere deserves praise
I recently came into a pair of M-50s upgraded to M-60 MkIII.1 status. I had many questions for Ralph, and he was patient and helpful and even sent me a free pair of jumpers for the XLR inputs. He wasn't making a dime on me, and treated me with jus...
Technics SP series mats?
I use a Herbie's Way Excellent II on my SP-15 and its significantly better than the stock rubber mat. Seems like it would be worth a try on the higher end decks too.

Low Watt Solid State Amp
Adaug:The Monarchy SM-70s I owned didn't just run hot, they were blazingly hot. No free lunch in Class A.David
Low Watt Solid State Amp
I owned the Monarchy SM-70 (now Mk2) and it was terrific at 25w/ch. If you have really high efficiency speakers the noise floor can be a little bothersome, but with most speakers it’s fine. New it would be just under your budget, but I got mine us...
Earliest "MOST WANTED" gear
My first real system was purchased in 1978 at Alan Audio in Bloomington, IN. Advent 300 receiver, New Advent speakers, and a Micro Seiki MB-14 turntable. No idea what cartridge they put in it. Lots of records available at the used record stores fo...
Modwright Preamp Owners.
My LS-100 replaced a Consonance Cyber 222 mkii, which replaced a Wright Sound WLA12A. As you can see, I'm a fan of the 6SN7.   :-)   The LS-100 has been terrific in my system, especially after procuring some Sophia 6SN7s and a Synergy HiFi 5AR4. I...
