The beginning of my stereo set up
I wonder also about Legacy. I was going the route of Tekton tower speakers but this thread is very good. I have a powerful SS amp. Do I need tube amplifier for them?
Schitt Saga tube buffer preamplifier gain?
Saga works really really well as a preamp for my Shitt headphone amp when using decent headphones. Nice sound. Grado and other highly detailed headphones work best.
Schitt Saga tube buffer preamplifier gain?
I wonder why Schitt did not provide any gain in the saga like they did the Freya plus. Maybe I can send it back and put the money toward the freya plus. I have read / heard that the Freya Plus arrives sometimes not able to play out of the box. I g...
New Audiophile going crazy
I am interested in learning more about your sonic frontier pre amp. Is it working okay? Does it have tubes? Let me know. I am an audiogon member. Enjoy buying and playing your systems. Is fun!
Sell LP's: No visible scuffs. Let buyer remove static if needed?
I will buy some of your mobile fidelity master recording records. Interested. You may have some that are I grew up with and want to hear in this high quality format. I buy on ebay , I treasure my 100 percent rating, I have same on Audiogon. You do...
The anachronistic CD Transport? And do I really need one.
I like my cambridge transport. Smooth player. I wish it was slot loading like the audiolab.  I still have an arcam player but is  not a stand alone transport. You can't go wrong with the CX Cambridge transport.
Does Age Matter?
56 years old. 60 percent cassette (maxell/Nakamichi)30 percent LP10 perrcent stream (spotify/Mixcloud/Dac)It is a bit more work to clean the record and play it but oh so good!Surprising how good a well recorded tape can sound thru a good machine. ...
Speaker suggestions under 4k
You most likely did make a wise choice with Pioneer. Wow. Stereophile reviewed them and said this tower speaker model was a winner and not fussy about placement either. I like that. Heck, I had to put my big full range towers in the corners  and i...
For auld lang syne, ..high-end companies you really liked that are gone....
ADS The speakers they made and that unique sound! I still drive a pair of ADS large full range L1590 towers. No need for a sub.  B & K amplifiers and  B & K higher end pre-amps. I am using the Sonata series preamp and it reminds me sonical...
Frail and Bedazzled
I still listen to my vinyl and enjoy it even more now with a restored Dual 1249 table and higher end Grado cartridge which I purchased separately this year. My solid state pre-amp has a mono switch and is pretty amazing when I play a mono record f...
Experiences Selling Stuff On Audiogon?
I have used audiogon for years. Has not let me down. So far all the equipment is as described. I have received product in past with UPS damage (box so torn and damage it was beyond description) not the fault of the seller though. I always double b...

Newbie to the awesome audiophile world
Start with speakers. If I could do it again.... efficient easy to drive always works best because you have flexibility to get an amp that does not break the bank. If you fall in love with a sound of speaker then get it, I did this and still have a...
Just received my new Luxman CL-1000 pre-amp.
I made my first real hi end audio  purchase in the 80's for a Luxman piece. Sounded so smooth and natural, had the caps done and more fifteen years later and kept using it, loved that amp sound.
Integrated amplifier sound
Bill , I also have a Cambridge 640A, older model (65 watts rms) so warm sounding. I use it on my bookshelf speakers. I am going to try and start with a sub. I like the idea. The Music Fidelity is so powerful with my speakers so it might keep me fr...
