Best sounding amp/preamp for Snell Type E/ll model speakers? Thanks Erik. Sounds like a newer model from Conrad Johnson
Who says studio monitors are "cold and analytical"? Celtic66 your post is great! I agree it is supposed to be fun. I just got a pair of Snell type E speakers for fun. I always wanted to hear them (cant find or afford the model A flagship). I am having a blast! They image, are smooth and sound SO di...
Which would you choose for good sounding tube preamp for an audiophile new to tubes. Synergy! A match.
Which would you choose for good sounding tube preamp for an audiophile new to tubes. Schitt Freya preamp into a Pass Labs X-2A5 amp sounds interesting but it is a 5,000 dollar amp. I like the synergy that is mentioned. The most important point is this! Thomas says nothing is more important, I agree and most all of you do as well.
Which would you choose for good sounding tube preamp for an audiophile new to tubes. Quicksilver audio is sounding pretty good. Not bad.
Which would you choose for good sounding tube preamp for an audiophile new to tubes. My budget is 1,500 dollars max. I also watch Thomas. I like his Youtube channel. I really wanted a Sonic Frontiers growing up in audio. I just could never affford one. When I saw the one listed on Hi Fi Heaven for a grand I got excited I guess. ...
Fact or misinformation? No. I agree with all the other members that no harm will occur. I also use my mono switch with an old LP. It is sometimes amazing with a stereo cartridge.
Anybody watch Steve Huff audio on the Tube? I bought the Diamond 225 small bookshelf speakers because of his review. They sounded really good just like he said for the price. I now want to hear what Wharfdale has in a bigger box with that tweeter and midrange. It was so smooth, delicate and...
How long do you or should you keep your gear. I still have my ADS L1590 Tower speakers I purchased in the early 90s. Just had them refurbished completely. Amazedly the woofers needed nothing!
Recommend an Entry Level Turntable (And maybe an integrated Amp) Lot of great advice that is sound on here today. If it were me I also would get a different integrated. New ones are very good. I had an old 1976 Luxman I got attached to for almost 25 years and it hurt to let it go but it can be done. Not easy.
When choosing new Speakers, what matters most to you? A well known brand for sure. American made is great but not a deal breaker. We make very very good speakers in USA but you all know this. Matching the amp I have to the speakers, synergy is a must. If it is not smooth, efficient, non-distortion at...
How to tame a bright system? I have the same problem in my system so I changed the preamp to the old ADVENT 300 until I can afford a Schitt Freya plus tube to smooth the top end. I use Mosfet amps like Adcom and B and K, etc.. so not there. It is hard to sell speakers you...
One big reason why brick and mortar high end audio dealers struggle. Everything has changed. I loved going into a store to hear good hi-fi. Not easy to do anymore. I like the suggestion we share our knowledge. I know exactly how my last four amps and speakers sounded together and the DAC I liked best, etc.. Maybe t...
The smoothest amp you've heard? Luxman 1120A Receiver . Very smooth famous Luxman sound. Was updated with better caps and other inside. Nice power amp section. Made very well back in the day.
How long do good speakers last? My audio life got real when I heard a pair of Montana speakers being driven correctly by a huge Threshold amp. It was in the 90s. Incredible sound. Someone on the forum tonight said they have Montana's. What a speaker! |
