Help on DVD and Home Theater Set Up Yes, it is, but you might not want to. I have found that no matter how hard I tried, the home theater excess (amps, processor, DVD player, ICs, video cable, power cords, etc.) just got in the way of my great two channel stereo sound. I even keep m...
Balanced Interconnects, Which ones??? If money is a factor, Audioquest Lapis can be had for less than the Diamond, and will get you nearly the same warmth. I use Lapis, unbalanced, in my system and the sound is excellent. I agree with the post above about the silver helping to preserv...
Need SS preamp that sounds like tube . Don't let those negative nerds get to you Redkiwi. I started this thread, and all opinions are welcome! :)
I opened both MIT and Transparent netwks Before you cut open something else that is expensive and good, give it to me please. :)
What s your favorite amp 2500 used/ 4k Bryston 9B-ST. Probably best amp made for the price. I'm auditioning one right now. I've heard this amp drive a home theater system in the store that I think would buckle most other amps--especially one rated at 120x5. Happy shopping.
Tube preamp for Bryston 7B-ST I have another thread open on nearly the same subject. I am looking to upgrade my CJ PV12 tube pre-amp that I run with my 4B-ST. I initially was looking at a SS pre-amp, but now I just read the review of the CJ Premier 17LS in Stereophile. I plan ...
Need SS preamp that sounds like tube . Thanks, everyone, for all the input. I do agree that to get tube sound you have to have tubes, but I was just curious if any SS came close. Anyone own the CJ Premier 17LS (back to tube again). I read the review in Stereophile. Curious what a reali...
BEL 1001 amp...does it deserve the hype? Overrated. There is a store in town that sells BEL. The salespeople genuflect as they pass the sound room. I expected to be blown away. From what I heard, it was not worth the money. Maybe it was the speakers, Dunlevy, or CD player, Wadia, but I t...
25,000 for the home theater If this system is for both home theater and music, be sure to check out the Pre-amp processors that have a good analog section, such as the Bryston SP-1. Also, check out the new Bryston 6B-ST 3-channel amp. A few if these powerhouses could probabl...
Pioneer Elite DVC 36 DVD versus DV 37? I have that Pioneer literature. The way I understood it was that the NTSC standard is to break up each film frame into 3 and then 2 interlaced images. A player with true 3-2 pulldown capability will accurately replicate each film frame from the NT...
Speaker cable termination Any mechanical connection, spade or otherwise, will degrade the signal to some degree. However, this is much more advisable than losing resolution due to oxidation of your high-priced wire. Least trouble overall, I'd have to say a properly soldere...
Pioneer Elite DVC 36 DVD versus DV 37? Yes, 3-2 pulldown is important. As I understand it, a DVD player that has this feature most accurately recreates a film-like progressive image.
Replace 35" TV with something bigger Sean, I've been trying for a month to calibrate the tv properly. I bought the Sony DVP-S9000ES with the special Men in Black package. The thing was supposed to come with the Avia disc included as well as the MIB DVD and an SACD sampler. Get this, ...
pioneer vs panasonic The Pioneer DV-09 is not a progressive scan player. I recommend one of their newer players, DV-37. Can't say about the panasonic, never auditioned one.
Replace 35" TV with something bigger I went through this agonizing purchase about two months ago. Initially, I said the same thing someone else here said--sit closer and buy a better direct view set. So I found a good deal on a Sony KW34HD-1. Excellent picture, widescreen image--had ... |
