Thinking of Magnepan ... finally! @mesch Congrats on your new LRS+ speakers. From what I read, they punch above their weight and scale with better components far beyond one would expect. Please share further impressions as you put on more miles on the speakers. Question for you:...
Thinking of Magnepan ... finally! @jjss49 as you know i have a set of agd audions, after trying many other class d amps i did not enjoy, and the agd’s do very well with my 1.7i’s as well as 3.7i’s... It was, in fact, your glowing review of the AGD’s that made me re-consider c...
Thinking of Magnepan ... finally! did i stumble into a class d amp thread? Well, I did mention in the OP that I will be driving the Maggies with a class D amp, so I think that part of the discussion is relevant and not off topic :) I understand that Magnepan employees cannot p...
Grimm MU1 Streamer - Really "The Best"? @jetter I agree they look like some cheap crap from alibaba. I can say the same about fuses also :) The QSA plug came with a 30-day return privilege. I was fully expecting to send it back if it didn't work. But decided to keep it. Another member,...
Thinking of Magnepan ... finally! Yeah that 'official' class D guidance from Magnepan gave me pause as well. Either they have not kept up with the advancements in class D or maybe their viewpoint is still valid for all that we know. As I've mentioned before, I was very skeptical o...
Gustard R26 +1 @sgreg1 I think direct-to-ethernet is a really cool feature ... especially at this price point. From what I've been reading, the R26 even without the LAN connection is worth the asking price. The LAN is just icing on the cake. It also saves y...
Grimm MU1 Streamer - Really "The Best"? @grannyring Thank you for sharing your perspective. Later this year, I was planning to add either an audiophile-grade network switch to my system or a better passive filter. Eventually, I might end up doing both but wanted to take it slow. Given t...
Grimm MU1 Streamer - Really "The Best"? @grannyring I currently have the Eno AG filter in my system. I think you also owned one before. In your opinion, is the Muon Pro a noticeable upgrade over the original Eno? Nyev, sorry I hope I'm not hijacking your thread :)
Gustard R26 @soix Like they say, horses for courses. I know Sandu has a lot of fans here, but just looking at his equipment and preferences I can tell that we are quite different when it comes to the type of flavor we like in our music. I respect him a lot an...
Gustard R26 @calieng Anyway I thought it sounded very good and well built. Very punchy and good width of sound stage. Then I swapped for one of my Denafrips R2R DACs and realized I need to return the A26. R2R is so much more organic sounding and much bette...
Thinking of Magnepan ... finally! Thanks for the input and feedback guys. Reading the responses, I see a number of folks who don't feel the need for very high powered/high current amplification and are happy with relatively medium powered amps. Based on my own experience, I think ...
Any Raven Audio Reflection Owners? I think member @willgolf had the Reflection amp and was quite impressed with it. You might want to reach out to him.
Grimm MU1 Streamer - Really "The Best"? +1 on @lalitk ’s suggestion of passive filter. I have the ENO filter which is one step below the Muon and still very happy with the results. It helped remove any lingering digital artifacts in the chain.
Contemplating DEVORE SPEAKERS (and others)....LONG audition report of many speakers @prof Yes I remember you mentioning the Aavik amp. That’s a pricey bit of gear! Aavik's new line of integrated amps is actually quite affordable considering what you get. Their I series includes I-180 ($7500), I-280 ($12000), and I-580 ($20,0...
Thinking of Magnepan ... finally! +1 @jjss49 I have no doubt that Dannie Richie is very good at what he does. But at the end of the day it’s not that difficult to play monday morning quarterback. I have a lot more respect for folks who design, build, and sell their own speakers ... |
