High Fidelity Cables CT-1designed by Rick Schultz Has anyone tried the phono cables? If so which version and how did they compare to your current cables?Andrew
Evolution Acoustics MMMicroOne I agree with Dinder1. The MMM-1 is better than the LS50. The LS50 is nice, but does not have the lows the MMM-1 has and it also sounds "boxey". the LS50 would make a great bookshlef speaker in a nearfield situation like at your desk.Andrew
Evolution Acoustics MMMicroOne Glory,I heard the Magico V2 a very long time ago. I was impressed at the time. I think this is the sweet-spot in their line and I'm not a big fan of the aluminum-enclosure speakers even though they get a lot of good press. I have heard systems at ...
Evolution Acoustics MMMicroOne Hello folks,I have been living with the MMMicro ones for a while now and can confidently say that it is a superb sounding speaker and excellent value. It has anazing timing, coherence, resolution, and dynamics. The tweeter on the unit is a tour de...
Evolution Acoustics MMMicroOne All,I would like to set the record straight on a few things. Firstly, after re-reading my comments about Evolution Acoustics and Jonathan I have to admit that they were too harsh, very negative and accusatory beyond the line of professionalism. Fo...
Evolution Acoustics MMMicroOne I definitely agree with Byroncunninghams 4 observations and comments. Im a recent owner of the MMMicroOne having taken delivery last week. I would add a 5th comment to his list. 5. Lack of transparency, lack of trustworthiness and deception dama...
Stylus Drag Dover,If belt drive DC motor driven TT's use a closed loop, why do Halcro and I observe that the speed changes on the Raven AC TT with the needle in the groove?Andrew
Stylus Drag I assert that small changes in speed caused by stylus drag can be heard. Frogman is heading in the right direction.I would also agree with Tonywinsc that pace/rythm is another way to gauge the effect of speed stability. In my experience, a table w...
Turntable speed accuracy I would like to qualify my statment above:"Thats why most DC motor driven TTs slow down with stylus drag. "I'm referring to DC-motor drives TT's with an open-loop control system. This means that the actual speed is not compared to the set-point ...
Turntable speed accuracy Here are some of my own observations and hypothesis:1) Regarding how important platter mass is for speed stability. IMHO you cannot assume a higher platter mass is better independent of drive mechanism. In other words, the platter mass and drive m...
Stylus Drag Hi,As this is verging on speed stability, i'll post some new comments on the turntable speed accuracy thread.Andrew
Tokyo vinyl and audio suggestions I live in Tokyo now and have purchased a lot of jazz and other vinyl here. Check out the Disk Union shops is Shinjuku, , and Shibuya. I've been to most places here and this is by far the best.
Stylus Drag Hi Folks, thanks for your comments so far. Some comments from me:I agree with Halcro that the Raven slows down when the needle hits the groove. I base this on the shift in speed as observed with the KAB strobe disk. So I usually set speed with the...
Turntable speed accuracy Empire TT's based on AC motors using belts.
Turntable speed accuracy Halcro,In my statement about AC belt driven TT's vs DC motor driven TT, I was meaning belt driven DC TT's, not a DC driven DD.I have no experience with DD's yet. If I get a timeline will try to post some results.Atmasphere,Which Empire TT are you ... |
