Jan Allaerts Cartridge Experience?
Raul? Ebarker2?Kha, Thomashesig..any experience?
Jan Allaerts Cartridge Experience?
I have some information to share with all of the folks interested in these cartridges.I have been trying to assess the method that Jan allaerts uses to specify his output voltage. I contacted him and he told me that he uses the following conventio...
Tracking Force Gauges
Vetterone,I wonder if they are using a 310 or 316 grade of SS. Below is some background of magnetic properties of stainless steels. I have one on order and will check this with a magnet. Background Magnetic permeability is the ability of a material...

ALL,Key question. Does the $95 gauge have a magnetic surface that the stylus would be positioned on? Will the magnet in a cartridge affect the accuracy of the reading with this gauge?
Transfiguration Orpheus - Has anyone tried it ?
Tubes108,Thanks for your feedback. I've heard that the upper end benz's sound pretty good.Andrew
Transfiguration Orpheus - Has anyone tried it ?
Tubes108,What particular cartidge came along your way that bettered the Tmper V?Gary,Thanks for your additonal comments. This helps to put things in better perspective, perhaps. All,I'm particulary interested in knowing how the Temper or Orpheus co...
Transfiguration Orpheus - Has anyone tried it ?
Larry,Reb1208 speculated that the Orpheous offers a different sound. That sound would probably go in the direction of more speed and less warmth/bloom than the Temper V/W. Have you found this to be true with the Orpheus?gdpowers_7@hotmail.com,What...
Transfiguration Orpheus - Has anyone tried it ?
Kha,Can you give us more detailed and up to date thoughts on how the Orpheus compares to the Zyx Universe. Thanks,Andrew
Tracking Force Gauges
Vetterone,Thanks for that input. I was planning to purchase a calibrated weight and checking it for accuracy AND repeatability. It is good to know you are getting good results on both.Andrew
Tracking Force Gauges
Drubin,That's correct. The gauge specifies an accuracy of +/- 0.002g. I would be happy with an order of magnitude worse. All else aside, I feel a lot more comfortable buying a gauge where measurments are perfromed in the middle of the range as opp...

Sirspeedy,Have you or anyone you know verified the accuracy of this gauge with a calibrated weight? Thanks.andrew

I read Thom's remarks in the attached thread. It helped a lot in understanding the importance ans ways of measuring VTF. It was the basis of some of my questions.
How to set SRA after determining true vertical?
Nsgarch,Good points. I pretty much followed your process, however I began with setting VTF on the low range. I'll begin experimenting with higher VTF's and resume the SRA testing.Thanks.Andrew
How to set SRA after determining true vertical?
Nsgarch,I found this to be true as well. Raising the arm at the pivot point by 6-8mm improved the sound dramatically. Better bass extension and tautness (very punchy) combined with more detailed highs. I tried this compared to a level arm tube pos...
How to set SRA after determining true vertical?
Doug,Yellow stickers. Maybe. The more I learn and experiment the more I'm becoming a "believer" in the importance of arm/cartridge parameter optimization. The next step is to experiment with VTF.Regarding your comment: "I rarely hear any sonic eff...
