Clocking: again! @doufthebiker, Afterdark in HongKong has a whole range of performance packages including cables, other good clocks (albeit much more expensive are Cybershaft from Japan, Antelope Audio and Mutec. I concur with @lordmelton on at least reclocking t...
432 EVO Audiotroy has had my post removed: I just pointed out that 432 EVO is virtually unknown over here in Europe and that digitally converting recordings made at 440Hz tuning doesn’t seem particularly audiophile. Go figure…
Clocking: again! @djones51 Get some help, mate
432 EVO Audiotroy’s touting his product as the European champion is purely based on wishful thinking: it’s virtually unheard of over here (I know both the UK and German markets well) whereas Innuos is an acknowledged market leader here. The whole idea of ...
Clocking: again! I am afraid a TXCO clock, possibly with a generic BNC cable in most cases will be inferior to the internal clock of your DAC resulting in a very pointy and ultimately unpleasant sound. As I said in my original post superior cables are needed if yo...
Clocking: again! What you get from the switch is foremost a lowering of the noise floor with resultant increase in blackness and impulse. In addition there seems to be less spurious noise affecting the DACs conversion and analogue stage, leading to higher resoluti...
Clocking: again! @lordmelton, agreed, slight addendum: if connecting the server to the DAC via USB it actually matters to synchronise clocking between Etherregen and DAC. The server is addressed by the DAC‘s slaving its clock under the asynchronous protocol. Bett...
Clocking: again! @discopants, it‘s not that your clock is cheap: with the right cable it‘s still better than the one built into the Etherregen! Clocking in digital is primordially important.
AGD Audio Mk2 review @ddriveman, that is high praise, indeed! BTW we seem to have surprisingly similar systems philosophy: I have a Wavac EC300b (EAT or Takatsuki) drive Duevel Bella Luna point source omni-directional horns with Murata super tweeters. I haven‘t ha...
AGD Audio Mk2 review Wow, That‘s qiete a bit of 300b armoury there and lends substantial weight to your view on the Audions. If I might ask: what about timbre and naturalness? It seems obvious that in terms of resolution, attack and decay the Class D amps have a lot t...
dCS Bartok DAC - Interesting Video Review @melm good point: that’s why these fora are useful and honest contributions much appreciated
dCS Bartok DAC - Interesting Video Review Two observations: throughout the review the Bartok was fed on SP/DIF, hardly the best interface available. Further, the softness in attack in my experience is typically a result of clocking issues between server and dac; this is why I2S and USB ar...
Questions about Ethernet Cabling As John Swenson says, the power supply improvement moving to an LPS is small but audible,,weirdly dependent on the power cable. The better clock makes a significant difference, here again the quality of the BNC cable has a large impact. What puzzl...
Questions about Ethernet Cabling @Mclinnguy, I can assure you that my Antelope Audiophile 10m clock has a major impact and lifts the Etherregen into a different ligue altogether. This is John Swenson making clear that a cheapo chinese Ocxo with lots of phase noise is unlikely to...
Recommended USB Cables. @auxinput, I have the Oyaide cable. While good,it gets very substantially bettered by the Intona Reference USB cable from Germany. Very much more leading and trailing edge, bigger and deeper soundstage and more flow. |
