High-end Universal...Why? ? I agree with Bld63 that SACD will probably become a small niche in the market only few will care. Most people just don't care about the sound quality as much as they care about the picture quality of their home entertainment center. People will ra...
Digital jitter and disk treament tweak Audioengr: I beleive that most if not all cd player has the data bufferred, formated, and clock out to the DAC stage using a master clock. I can't imagine data just go straight from the disk to wherever they are going. The players may not have a l...
Digital jitter and disk treament tweak Eldartford: I supposed if money is not an issue, you could design a clock system with a few pico second or even femto second of jitter. The quartz itself needs to be amplified so the amplifier need to have low jitter also. The signal has to travel...
Digital jitter and disk treament tweak Eldartford: the clock that is used to clock the data out from the buffer has jitter and that is why the data that come out from the flip flop has jitter. No clock is perfect and therefore they all have jitter. Some has more than other. As for the e...
Can sibilance be eliminated? Most of the time, natural sibilance is not really a problem and I understand that it is part of the way we make speech. But I think the problem is that most digital playback would add a layer of electronics which results in a sound that is shapele...
Sony SCD-C 555ES I also bought it and sold it within a week. It sounded worse than my Kenwood 200cd changer. Vocal through this player sounds as hard as a brick. How this player got stereophile class A is beyond any human logic.
What type of copper is best for power cable? I haven't tried buying Marinco connectors yet. There is a local representative I can call on Monday. Will see then. The odd things is I've been going all over town to find a decent female plug but can't seem to find any store that carry them. The o...
First pre/pro and hopefully last Audio Refinement Pre2 Dsp is an excelent Pre/Pro that sounds great and only costs you 1400.00 new. Though it doesn't have as many features as others but the sound is top notch. All analog inputs can be bypassed by there is a 5.1 input for SACD or ...
Full sounding Bookshelf speakers music only Epos ESL3 for 300 per pair and beautiful looking. These have been well recieved by both British and American press. They are Stereophile recommended.
How much preamp will improve I think you can have the best of two worlds by having a preamp with a HT bypass. It would be a bit cumbersome to operate but I don't mind (having no wife yet :-)).
Speakers for Creek 5230SE Int. Amp. I agreee with Mattybumpkin. Epos probably has one of the best mid range out there regardless of price. Vocal reproduction is first rate. I believe EPOS is part of Creek. Check out this possitive review from HiFi choice.http://www.hifichoice.co.uk/...
How much preamp will improve Kr4: It's only a suspicion or a guess from my part. It usually sounds fine when I am using the Nad541. When I am using the Cary303, I feel like the 303 stresses the system a bit. And the only thing I can think of is my preamp stage is not up to th...
Are your systems more Plato or Aristotle? Eldartford, Ozfly, Buscis2, Shubertmaniac: pretty much everything and everyone is either Platonic or Aristotelian and that includes Arnold Schwarznegger, Audrey Hepburn, and Hegel.
Harmonic Technology Pro 11+:any opinions? I agree with most of the posts here. The pro9 is a bit on the warm/romantic side of neutral. It has the equivalent effect of upgrading to either an preamp or amp. I had a chance to audition the Audioquest type4 but the pro9 is much more musical an...
Epos M12.2 vs. Von Schweikert VR 1 vs. GMA Europas Your problem could be the Audioquest Type4. I had a chance to home-audition them and found they lack "life and air" as if they overly smooth out the sound. They also tend to attenuate the mid-range. |
