Monitor Audio Platinum or Magico A3 @zzriderThey did not make my shortlist. I am a big fan of good looks and they are stunning. Also liked the tweeter supertweeter concept.@jhajeski nearest dealer is 420 km away. Love driving my Nissan - but not that much.@ricred1 actually I don...
The Absolute Sound vs Stereophile Stereophile for choice. They do measurements which gives them more weight. Actually I can't be bothered with mags that do not. Hi-Choice and Hi-News also in the higher league. Also enjoy Stereo from Germany.I enjoy Fremer's madness, Dudley's m...
Monitor Audio Platinum or Magico A3 Thanks guys for the input so far. My room is a tad narrow but is of 'average size' and I have diffusers to the rear and point of first reflection. Associated gear is Pass X150.8 and Ayon Eris Pre. LP and PC with Dac for source. I still have t...
Monitor Audio Platinum or Magico A3 Eric that is interesting. In terms of audition I have had two auditions of the Magico A3. But the Monitor Audio Platinum II would be a blind (or is it deaf) buy. The reason I say that is interesting is that I would have thought it would be the...
LOOKING TO MAKE A TURNTABLE CHANGE, HOPEFULLY AN IMPROVEMENT kjl, my experience is this: Digital quality is very good. But to obtain something better via vinyl will take vast amounts of money. To have good vinyl you need (1) near perfect speed rotation - easier said than done (2) freedom from vibration ...
Line Magnetic 518ia - How Much Heat Does It Produce? Two possible suggestions. One is go for a mosfet based power amp, and a tube based pre-amp. You will a good tube sound out of that.Second, given the room is small you can probably get by with a less powerful amp. If you have sensitive speakers ...
LOUNDSPEAKER FOR $10,000.00 PER PAIR I have auditioned the Magico A3. It is the real deal. (I am running Triangle Magellan Cello's but I would swap them for the A3's in an instant.)
Does anything better Jelco arm ~$1000 I had a Jelco 750 (silver rewired and ebony headshell) and 'upgraded' to an Origin Live Conqueror - Mk3C. A mistake. Jelco simply better on my system and I onsold the OL and went back to the Jelco.PS I like the 'Toyota Camry' analogy.
Art Dudley Calls B.S. but without naming names - PLEASE DO! No one yet has named a name. It seems most reviews talk 'value' and products that 'punch above their weight' or 'you wont get better for X times the price'. Well here here is one that punches below its weight: Triangle. I have Triangle Speakers...
SL1200GAE New Tonearm I put a Jelco 750D on my 1210Mk5. Decent improvement. I also put an Origin Live Conqueror on of my 1210 Mk5g. Waste of time. Standard arm superior.I like the look of the brand new Jelcos. Visually they will fit with the iconic Technics look a...
Technics 1200 Critic Fremer Praises the newer 1200G atmasphere6,176 posts05-08-2018 The SL1200G is a complete from-the-ground-up redesign and only shares its appearance with the older SL1200s. Its a very well-thought out design; is more speed stable and has considerably more damping and a very de...
What are the best entry level integrated amps and speakers? pipebro You can hardly go wrong! The low end of Hi-Fi IS still HIGH Fidelity. In fact I think we are in a sort of golden age. In terms of integrated amps there are so many fabulous options - just think Japanese as one way to go. Onkyo, Mara...
Magico A3 erik_squires3,375 postsFor the money I MUCH prefer the A3 to the S1 Mk II. I think it is a much easier speaker to live with in several ways, while giving up nothing. Pleased to hear that. I have heard the S1MlI at a dealers who set up a system to ...

Tonearm Advice Needed There's a new boy in town. Venerable Jelco have put out new tonearms. The existing 750D (that I run) is an overachiever - I preferred it to an Origin Live Conqueror. Jelco now have the 850 and 950. I am considering upgrading. |
