Classe CAM 350 upgrade for Conrad Johnson MF2500A? Had a CJ 2500A and it is a fine machine. A 2500 under 1K$ used would be a bargain. But if you can afford a few hundreds more for a 2500A, you would be geared on more long term enjoyment.
Spectron Musician III MK.2 or Audio Research DS450 Well why am I not surprised ? Everything you despized a short while ago are beginning to fall within your tastes. All it took is the proper guru. This goes for subwoofers and very shortly servers.
Which is REALLY the best Conrad Johnson Preamp I would say the first ART and Premier 16 were the best CJ pres. Because they were built in the transition between the older "CJ sound", lush anf warm with blooming midrange and the neutrality of the newer lines. Best of both world !
Audible Illusions vs CJ preamps: sonic difference? Had the discussion in 2009 here on Gon about AI eating up tubes. Even AI technician and owner came in the discussion. By design, AI will be hard on tubes and only the most rugged ones will resist.
12BZ7/12AX7 vs. 5751 "I just don't get the whole tube rolling deal."I must respect your opinion since you are a dealer, with lots of experience I presume. I will put aside some thoughts I might have, being on the other side of the coin. But I would like to understand y...
D class amps with Soundlab speakers In case it would be of any significance in the present discussion, I have a Spectron with all the upgrades driving a pair of Acoustat Spectra 44. It does it with a lot of ease with firmer bass performance and overall definition than my Coda Model ...
best preamp for CJ MF2500a at 2000 to 2500 dollars I had a 2500A paired with the PV-14l MKII for awhile. The 2500A was a nice revelation to me. I eventually changed for a Coda class A amp that came along and made a very happy new owner of a 2500A. The 2500A is not the most neutral and transparent ...
Spectron MIII mk II owner's question. Thanks for the hint ! I was already thinking about it. Didn't know Spectron were doing it themselves.

VAC Ren Mk III / Sig mkII Preamplifier with SS Amp I have a Vac standard Le that I've matched with a Coda model 11 100W class A. The Coda will adapt to a lot of units and will let the preamplifier introduce its own signature, which might be uncommon to class A amps. A real cameleon in my sense. My...
12ax7 vs 5751 Not saying that Joe's tube lore is the total and final authority. Brent Jesse is another good one with a lot of specifics, historic retrospect and very good general advice on what to look for. But when it comes to comparing same category tubes bet...
Is upgrading worth it? I agree with all those who propose a second system for older recorded music. To me, listening to music often includes a nostalgic factor that brings more of the good memories when the music sounds as it was then. But when it comes to modern recordi...
12ax7 vs 5751 I've been through experimenting with 12AX7 and 5751 tubes. Gathered a lot of them. Everything you want to know is in this excellent reference :http://www.audioasylum.com/scripts/d.pl?audio/faq/joes-tubes.html
Classe move to China Hi Kijanski,I know about the drill rights and the distribution in a free market. I'm more concerned about the workforce used to carry on the exploitation. Are they going to bypass the local workers, depriving high paying jobs to people in the vici...
Classe move to China Just got to this thread. I'm from Quebec. Saw similar ones on the same topic on Canuck Audio Mart's forum. The Classe move to China.I find refreshing that a definite concern is rising about being aware of the future and its consequences on our dai... |
