Sound Better w/Amp Directly Into Wall Then Thru Zero Surge
Interesting to me (and to the dealer) is that the sound seems to be changing, possibly depending on the time of day. At least this morning, the sound was emphasizing the top end of things. Aspects like cymbals and sibilance were quite pronounced. ...
Do we really know what "Live" music sounds like?
@larsman    Sure, you may not listen to live or acoustic instruments, but it's a partial guide to know how accurately your system is rendering the recording.
Do we really know what "Live" music sounds like?
What the OP reports out of listening live is so important. There are some who will accuse that kind of realization as unnecessary or snobism in terms of guaging what's important in a system. But real live unamplified ans minimally amplified music ...

Yes, then the question is, how do I protect it from potentially frting without worsening the sound?   The power strip with no filters will protect it with no worsening to the sound?
Quality system, make poor recordings sound better?
It partly depends on why a given recording sounded bad. Was it overwhelming the limitations of your system, or truly a poor recording?    A better, more revealing system will allow better recorded records to sound even better, while showing off ...
Sad to say I need a new amp…
A repair shop warned me against Rogue amps. 1) They see more than their fair share in for repairs. 2) They're difficult to work on because they use proprietary boards, not universal parts. Supply can be an issue, because they're imported from Chin...

Yes. A conditioner can be distinct from a stand alone surge protector, which is what the Zero Surge unit is.   So I did try plugging the Pathos directly into the Zero Surge. By ding do, I lost some openness, a bit of distinction between instrume...

I have a 15amp Shunyata Python power cord running out of the Hydra.   I, too, have been an owner of a Hydra 6 for over 20 years. It was only this past September when something occurred. The tech surmised that the Unico must have been hit with su...
Latest On Pathos Classic Remix
Yesterday, I decided to unplug this from the Zero Surge protector and put it straight into the wall. Much better. Able to expand more freely. Bass still a bit bloated after doing so yesterday, but improved as of later today.    That's very good,...
Decware integrated
I talked to Deckert recently. He's at about 16 month turnaround at this point.
Latest On Pathos Classic Remix
I spoke to Joel at UA. He said that Pathos amps need more hours than most to break in.  He said to get about 500 hours on it, leaving it on 24/7 to get there. They'll give me another week or so to do it.    Again, the low level stuff is lovely -...
For Those Of You Who Own A Pathos Classic One or Classic Remix...
This is all good to know. As when and if I replace my speakers, I'll have a great, expressive amp. But man, it's tough trying to guess. Not the optimal way to buy.    I have read the occasional review which said that the bass was not its strengt...
Soundsmith notes the passing of Doug Cassara
Thanks for sharing that, and your generosity.
Pathos Classic Remix Clicking Changing Inputs
Thank you @blackdoghifi
Pathos Classic Remix Clicking Changing Inputs
I also assume that all of the Pathos integrateds use the same designs, so there'd be a crossover.   It's just different to hear the click from the unit, and occasionally through the speakers.
