In-Room responce measurement with Legacy Focus SE speakers
@erik_squires no I am thinking you are right: there is for sure a bigger need to get the speakers and room mechanically properly tuned: I don't think ANY EQ or DSP would bring out what the speakers are properly capable.  Chances are all those thin...
In-Room responce measurement with Legacy Focus SE speakers
@erik_squires that is EXACTLY what I was wondering, and you articulated all of it perfectly.  In my little living room space, at very normal levels (50-60db), you can still feel the weight of a guitar pluck from low to high strings, and feel metal...
In-Room responce measurement with Legacy Focus SE speakers
Morning @fthompson251 I sure can.  Integrated amp: Rega Ellicit Mk4.  CD Player & DAC: Rega Saturn.  Streamer: iFi Zen Stream.  Speaker wire: Deulund (12').  Turn table: Rega Planar 3.  I am wondering about room correction software/hardware a...
In-Room responce measurement with Legacy Focus SE speakers
@erik_squires  and @mashif  thanks for the input on reflections.  I was wondering a little about that as well, but I discounted it because of the size of the room (to me) is huge vs the speakers in them.  You're right, if I stand near-inbetween th...

Moving into an apartment with wood joist floors - worried about neighbors hearing
There is some solid advise given, and some a bit drastic or too much too soon. I had a loft studio space in an old textile building in MA years ago, so I have some experience. Keep your speakers, do all the normal furnishings you are thinking: rug...
Free air, tighter bass - snake oil or cheap tweaks?
@erik_squires Oh gotcha...sort of like "peek-a-boo".  Interesting.
Free air, tighter bass - snake oil or cheap tweaks?
I'm sorry but I'm a bit dim: what DOES he mean by "covering your speakers"?  Like, cover the exposed wood/hard surfaces with fabric or felt  (like the front panel of old Spica speakers)?
Cable Break In for the Naysayers
@unreceivedogma   Nailed it.
Can a DAC do double duty?
@jmalen123 I have the PD-65 as well.Sadly, there's something wrong in the laser electronics and it no longer reads a CD.  I -LOVED- this CD player.  It really had an incredible presence and projected the instruments into the room.  I wish I could ...
Can a DAC do double duty?
Man, I miss my Pioneer Elite CD Player!!!  Yours is a6 CD version?  Still running good without any laser issues at all?
A $250 Power Conditioner?
@lpretiring  there are countless posts on various forums about 'power line conditioners', 'power line filtering' devices, to include the one I mentioned.  They all perform the same function, and they all make the same claims, and they all make sam...
Altec "Stonehenge III" speakers from 1977 - Any Good?
@jasonbourne71 yea, seen a pair near me for $3500, faded front.  Seems nutz to me too, but then again I really have no true frame of 'value' for these vs the actual sound.  Do you find your bass/mid bass adequate?  That is the only thing I am find...
Altec "Stonehenge III" speakers from 1977 - Any Good?
Thanks @hiend2 .  The Model #19s are what I would -really- like to have, or the 17s.  But I had never seen the Stonehenge model and kind of liked the smaller more 'conventional' floor stander as opposed to the large square box.  I am curious what...
A $250 Power Conditioner?
  Again, $35 and it does the same thing.
