What was your most disappointing album purchase?
Bob540My darling wife introduced me to “It’s a Beautiful Day” artists and Lp in 1970. Studio version of White Bird is the only version worth appreciating. Agreed! Their album “Marrying Maiden” was good too. From there on they lost their way. 🇦🇺
What was your most disappointing album purchase?
Enigma MCMXC a.D. was genius by Michael Cretu. The CROSS of changes was the beginning of an exponential curve to the bottom. At least now you can test the music on Tidal or your choice, and go for the vinyl if good.I remember the days you could req...
It was 20 years ago today...
Well done all those 20+ years contributing to the forum 🥳I do see a trend though. Those relatively recent joiners have enormous numbers of posts compared to the 20+ group. The quiet achievers? 🇦🇺
Tidal/OPPO streaming issue
I don’t have a problem running Tidal through my Oppo 205 via Roon. Great sound. 🇦🇺
Unbelievable
I have listened to the NS-5000 speakers via the Mx-5200 series amps and the GT-5000 tt. The sound is impressive.I haven’t listened to the Sony AR series yet but I will listen to any speaker/ system to expand my experience and knowledge.I read litt...
Black vs. Colored Vinyl
@mammothguy54 Thanks for the information re mofi dire straits. I will be looking to order ASAP.Agree with your experience with picture vinyl. 😬. A🇦🇺
Black vs. Colored Vinyl
I would think the vinyl composition was different at that stage. From then the vinyl used in the mass stampings of the mid 60’s to the 80’s again was a different composition. Then the release of CDs slowed everything vinyl (like the virus). There ...
Black vs. Colored Vinyl
The early coloured vinyl discs were terrible. A decade on, the composition of the vinyl mix has improved markedly. Having said that, as long as the dye used is consistent over the whole disc, that sound should be as good as the current black. That...
How to contact Audiogon Support
@justmetooAmericans write English but a lot of the time I can’t understand them when spoken.😁 🇦🇺
Anyone with tinnitus or hearing loss who is into "high-end" audio?
This thread subject is one of most fascinating in a long time. Each post respectful and informative. The last time I had my ears checked was in the 1970’s as a pilot in the RAAF. I suspect that my hearing has deteriorated over the decades, but fort...
... sound batting and/or weighting speakers ...
@rixthetrick I am in Queensland, Brisbane actually. Kyron Audio is in SA though. Where are you?
... sound batting and/or weighting speakers ...
Who needs a box? My speakers have no box. But gird all drivers with thick aircraft aluminium and you have something pretty spectacular. Sound and looks.check www.kyronaudio.com.au and look up the Gaia. For subwoofers look up the Mercury. Frequency...
Does anyone collect something else other than music.
Having moved house, my wife says I collect stuff and junk. I just don’t throw out what I should.Despite cleaning the new house weekly, it seems, as per GK, dust. Where does it all come from?
Why do you guys pursue a flat frequency response when you buy a subwoofer?
I understand, I still have my original M&K Volkswoofer and Satellites. They still play in my office. I had the Volkswoofer amplifier and driver surrounds renewed lastyear. They sound as good as I first remember them and bought in 1983.I will s...
Power Conditioners
follow me Ok? How much is your equipment worth? You have a greater likely good of a blackout or brownout, than an electrical storm interference. Perhaps I would lean toward a conditioner or some such equipment that would protect your equipment fir...
