Modwright SWL 9.0SE - Is there anything else?
I think the Doge 8 (from Pacific Valve) at around $1,500 is a superlative pre-amp. You can roll some tubes to improve an already excellent performance and it also has a top drawer phono stage.Greg
Must Hear Speakers in $10K range
I like easy to drive speakers and the best in your budget range are probably the Coincident Technology Super Victory's (~$!0,000) and the Vaughn Cabernet's (~$8,500). For used you may find a Coincident Technology Total Victory IV that lest new at ...

Help with system overhaul What would you do....
The Arcam AVR600 has the best sound of any receiver I have ever heard. It could be because it plays in Class A up mto at least 20 watts. Hopefully Arcam has upgraded the HDMI from HDMI 3 to HDMI 4.a to allow 3D and the best hi-rez audio. Greg
Must Hear Speakers in $10K range
I think the easy to drive Coincident Technogy Super Victory II speakers at $10,000 are excellent speakers. They will play excellently in any rooms below 4,000 cubic feet. If you have a larger room, you may waqnt to consider the larger Coincident T...
Back to tubes?
The linestage that passes the cleanest signal I have ever heard is the Coincident Technology Linestage at $5,000. The only limiting factor is its 2 inputs, which can cause one to re-think their front end. But if you add their exemplary Phono Stage...
Is the Accuton driver that good?
The sound of any good driver depends on the skill of the speaker designer. The construction of the cabinet, the bracing, and the crossovers basically define how well the speaker will perform, given a high quality and suitable amp, pre-amp, and sou...
How Much Difference Does a More Powerful Amp Make?
Generally, an amp that doubles its output from 8 ohms to 4 ohms is a high output amp. Only very robust power supplies are able to go from 200 watts @ 8 ohms to 400 watts @ 4 ohms. An excellent solid state amp that does this is the Clayton M200, pl...
New Giant Television
Marty-I guess I was looking further up the Mitsubishi food chain on their pricing. But my point still remains the same. The Panny's picture is better than even the best of the Mistu's. I will agree with you that if your priorities are very large p...

New Giant Television
If you don't want to use a front projection set-up, then your only really good choices are the very large Mitsubishi 73" to 92" HDTV's, which can cost from $4,500 to $7,000, or the new Panasonic TCP65VT30 65" VIERA 3D HDTV's or last years Panasoni...
Is the Accuton driver that good?
I think that both the Coincident Technology Pure References and Pure Reference Extreme's sound great and they both have Accuton midranges and tweeters, but with Nomex 12" woofers, which are also great. Of course, the skill of Israel Blume in makin...
Looking for "Last" 2 channel speaker system.
I am feeling somewhat repetitive from other speaker posts I have made, but if you want a great last speaker I would go with either the Coincident Technology Pre Reference ($22,000) or the Pure Reference Extreme ($26,000-$26,800).They are simply th...
6ohm speaker on a 15w 8ohm 6v6 integrated amp
You would have to make sure that any speakers you might get never go below 4 ohms throughout their entire frequncy range. The higher the speaker impedance throughout its range, the better. This is why I often recommend going with the following spe...
