SP10 Mk II vs Mk III
Lewm,If you want a MK3, I've been searching for them long enough to be able to direct you to one. Before you say yes, expect to pay minimum $5000.00 and a high of $10,000.00. A MK 3 at Audiogon a while back was listed $10K, it was supposed to be "...
SP10 Mk II vs Mk III
I'm in the middle of this comparison process, but my MK3 is so new, the tonearm cable is not even broken in. Comparing before both tables are in IDENTICAL states is a waste of time. Worse, it gives people wrong information about a topic that there...
Any audiophile who is on blood pressure medication
Originally I was put on a beta blocker and became so depressed, I threatened the Doctor I would pour all of them down the drain. Next was Vasotec (ACE inhibitor), which worked well for awhile and after a period of time, was not effective. Now I'm o...
Cars. What does the typical audiophile drive?
I agree on the BMW warranty, it's the only way I would have invested in this vehicle. No doubt the Honda would have been great because they are pretty much bullet proof, but every brand of car deprecates when you drive it off the lot and Honda is ...
Cars. What does the typical audiophile drive?
I had my eye on a Honda Pilot, the best equipped model. This was to replace my GMC Yukon which was a very good vehicle (NO problems at 5 years old), but the lease was expiring. When I discovered the Honda was more than a new GMC (about $40,000.00 f...

Grant, perhaps there should have been a smiley face at the end of my post :^).I remembered you for the Corvette and could not resist.

grills on or off on evolution acoustic speakers?
Mike (Audiohifila) I'm not surprised that performance was better with grills off. You can ask this question to Mike Lavigne or Jonathan Tinn as they both use the MM3 as their reference speaker. My guess is they hear the same thing you do. I heard M...
New Fuse Thread . . .
This circular discussion is very entertaining.Well Tvad, if fuses were not circular, they would not fit in the holder.

Modern day female jazz recommendations
Wwwrecords, that's an awesome suggestion, she sounds amazing based on the samples at that web site.Wonder if she will release on LP like so many new artists are doing?
cable doubter no more
Thanks for posting your comments. Not too many years ago people that believed in the merit of high end cables were dismissed as crazy. I've been into high end cables for more than 25 years and got a lot of grief in the beginning. No doubt my wife s...
New Fuse Thread . . .
Albertporter,Curious what affect changing fuses in your source component(s) had on sound quality? I have heard that the effect of silver fuses was greatest in the amplifier.Actually, the effect was very similar everywhere I installed Hi Fi Tuning....
Are there any 6H30's with a sweet upper midrange?
Agree with Tvad, that tube is the most electronic valve I've experienced. I avoid equipment that uses it, there are too many alternatives that allow the end user to experiment.
