Grand Prix versus Stillpoints
Have you changed the pads on the Monaco?Yes. I mentioned that fact in my post 2-17-10. I have new pads, which have been calculated for exact weight load by Alvin at Grand Prix.
Cable Elevators - What do you use?
I use slats from old wooden wine boxes to elevate my cables, just cut a groove and stand them up. I notice that old French wine crates work best for European classical and California wine crates work best for American pieces.Strangely enough some ...

Otis makes the best cable elevatorsUru975 (Threads | Answers)I was told it's Thyssen Krupp but admittedly it was a European gentleman that made the comment.
Copper Mat on Technics sp-10?
Do mats tend to sound like their material, meaning copper and carbon fibre would sound more lively than rubber?I find that's pretty much true, but the Boston, Micro Seiki and TT Weights are all hard mats yet each offers substantially different per...
Copper Mat on Technics sp-10?
SP-10 mats are sometimes available at Ebay. There are countless posts on Technics mats, my favorites are Micro Seiki CU-180, Boston Carbon Fiber mat and Funk Firm (thick). The Micro Seiki fits like it was made only for SP10 but will cost you a lot....

Tom,Alvin sends a template that shows how much compression is proper for the GPA dampers. Too little compression and there is not good isolation, too much compression and it looses elasticity or spring function. Deformation can be at the instant e...
Are linear tracking arms better than pivoted arms?
Both linear track and pivot arms have their advantages, just like any two good technologies in high end audio that get compared in the forums here.I've owned a lot of both types, the first linear tracker for me was the Rabco back in early 1970s. S...

Don't forget that the Sorbothane(not Neoprene)need to/should be replaced every six months Tab, if addressed to me, I agree. I replaced all twelve pucks about four months ago and it was like getting brand new GPA stands.Alvin says change dampers ab...
Grand Prix versus Stillpoints
I currently have the Grand Prix Audio Monaco stands under my amps and when I first installed them the upgrade was nothing short of amazing. The only fault with my test previously, the amps were sitting flat on the floor with no isolation at all.
Grand Prix versus Stillpoints
I knew this was going to be a tough question. I searched Audiogon forums and also pro reviews via Google before asking. It's amazing that as well known as these two are there seems to be no direct comparison.
Changing the flavor of gear
I decided the unit had enough soaking, so went directly to the power supply. I started by coating it with molasses and got a very sweet presentation.Your comment at the end of the post:As always, YMMVI assume that means Your Molasses May Vary?

Best HDMI Cable for Video
Monoprice has silver plated cable, I employed "chat" button to ask why no silver plated 40 foot version was available. "Maybe soon," was their answer. They do offer a 50 foot version in silver but adding 10 additional feet of unnecessary cable see...
