Shielded cable between pre and SET amp I don't think it is a proximity issue with the external SUT, when I have used external SUT in the past I have always needed a shielded cable from the SUT to the phono stage or phono input on a preamp to avoid any hum.
Sabrina X Anyone Add Subwoofer(s) If you are considering spending $5k on a sub that suggests that you could have afforded the Yvette that has a 10" woofer that goes down to 20hz. With the right amplifier probably solid state power, that drives a difficult load 86db and 4ohms, I wo...
Most Realistic Recordings Nick Cave - Idiot Prayer recorded live in an empty Alexandra Palace during Covid lockdown. Just him and a Fazioli piano.
Dr. Feickert Blackbird +1 for the Kuzma Stabi R. I use a Viv Labs Rigid Float Tonearm which ha removable headshell, it is probably one of the easiest arms to set up so instead of 2 arms you have interchangeable headshells with cartridges of you choice. I auditioned the...
After years of separates, I'm going integrated. Anyone else do the same? I had separates for years, now using a Jadis I50 with built in DAC and absolutely loving it. Don't knock it until you try it.

Decided to try a SPU cartridge @kennyc We will need an update once you get it all in place.
Decided to try a SPU cartridge @kennyc IMHO you should be using an SPU in your main system. I am also in my 60's and have only just joined the SPU party having been down numerous other roads before. The beauty of the Royal GM II or the Royal N is that they use the Ortofon Rep...

Decided to try a SPU cartridge @kennyc The Viv Lab's definitely work with SPU G's, just remove the headshell and pop in the SPU, although I would argue the Royal N sound's better than it's G equivalent the Royal GM II, and it's cheaper as well.
Decided to try a SPU cartridge @yeti42 I am certainly loving my Royal N, for me it just plays music and I am not missing any of the so called hifi elements. In the UK I know people are changing there Kondo IOMs etc for the Royal N. It is a cartridge that is being championed ...
Decided to try a SPU cartridge @kennyc I didn't think you can use an SPU G type with a 4point as the headshell fixing is not compatible.
Best budget turntable? Value for money Rega's never disappoint if buying new. Would try against the Technics though as I am not so sure new budget turntables would necessarily be that much better and always found the Grado Black to be very good value for money. Might ...
Decided to try a SPU cartridge @boothroyd The Rigid Floats fly in the face of all known theories of cartridge alignment, if you are using a standard style cartridge like the SPU Royal N the Nelson Hold headshell is a thing of beauty. Remove the headshell and just pop in a ful...
Decided to try a SPU cartridge I use an SPU Royal N, which is the normal bodied version of the SPU Royal GM MkII, absolutely the most enjoyable cartridge I have owned, former cartridges being VDH White Beauty, Koetsu Jade, EMT JSD VM etc. Whilst any SPU generally requires a ma... |
