Vintage DD turntables. Are we living dangerously?
My TT-101 is open to the air on all sides, yet it does get warm to the touch. I wouldn't recommend enclosing it - perhaps drill some holes in the plinth where they wouldn't be visible?

The cover is grounded by three screws to the frame of the tt. Also, originally there was a ground cable attached to the cover. I have grounded my tt via a new 3 wire pc that replaced the original non-grounded 2 wire line. The new ground-wire is at...

Halcro, the can on my tt-101 is heavily damped with bituminous automobile noise suppression sheets, it is also wrapped with a fat rubber band and as I said I use a cone (more like fat cylinders with sharp points) dead center to further drain it. S...

Halcro, your original looks like my current, except that I use 4 cones (one dead center) and no cups. So what did you discover - does the tin can actually help?

Henry, are you sure the feedback comes through the shelf? Could it be airborne direct to the cartridge?

Fleib, please expand on your effective mass comment. Do you have a way to compute effective mass that is more accurate?

Thank you Johnny. Now I have my birthday present in sight.

Is anyone using an Art-9 on a Jelco 750L. I am worried that it is too high compliance for my arm.

Halcro, get yourself either a single purpose turntable wall shelf (like the Solid Steel that I use) and spike the turntable to it, or a good stand and an isolation pad like an SRA or Symposium. I would put my naked TT-101 against any plinthed DD a...

I would call your attention to the Yamaha GT2000L and the Pioneer Exclusive P3 on eBay right now. Both are in the USA. No connection to me.

Stringreen, I too have had no damage from a few years of Magic Eraser. But, I always felt that the cantilever was getting a fairly tortuous ride and that was my concern. Also, if you can examine the cantilever and the bottom of the cartridge with ...

It's been a couple of months and nothing stands still so I wanted to note that I replaced the feet under my naked (to a point) TT-101 with Mapleshade Heavyfeet (I use 4, three supporting the edges of the tin-can bottom and one in the center of the...
Clear audio professional or klaudio record cleaner
For Pbnaudio and anyone else who ordered the RW800, has the machine arrived, in good shape, and of course most important how well does it work. Curious minds need to know. Thanks.

On the subject of platter mats I just want to re-iterate that I am using a lead mat glued to an Achromat. I thought that Fleib or someone else was about to try the same thing and wonder how that worked for them?

I use gunmetal micro-seiki arm boards cantilevered off of a 20lb steel weight to hold my tonearm. The bottom of the weight is double stick taped to a wall mounted platform. The turntable is on brass cones which are double stick taped to the can, i...
