Will sun exposure damage my speakers?
Yes, absolutely! During the course of the year my REVEL sub gets quite some sunshine and I cover it with a towel during that time and days. Whatever rubber is used for the cones: it doesn't like the sun at all.Good luck!
Question for all of you Glenn Gould fans ...
"A State of Wonder" - that's the title of a Sony release of the Goldberg-Variationen. This CD sounds MUCH better than the CBS stuff - because (according to the booklet) they used an analogue tape which originallly had been run for backup! But CD g...
CD player to choose? : Lindemann or Audionet?
I know the Lindemann - had some hype here in Germany. Auditioned it at Franfurt High End. It's a good but NOT a great player regarding what you get for the money. Don't know about the Audionet. But you should definitely look at Wadia, Linn, dCS or...
How should I treat window behind listening chair?
Brick it up!Seriously: I think it's nonsense to hunt for the "ideal room" because there is no such thing. In every concert hall there are hundreds if not thousands of "compromize-spots" to sit in. Who would like to sit in the same seat for a - let...
Redbook: only 1/4 of the master tape???
I agree with the above that it is nonsense to claim a 1:4 loss. I make own recordings of choral/orchestral music so I know the master tapes before they leave the studio for the CD fabrication. I often do comparisons of master and CD and with a rea...
Line conditioner or voltage stabiliser?
You should take a look at PS-Audio website (www.psaudio.com)for their PowerPlants. In my system the PS 300 feeding the front end was the biggest improvment for the money!Good luck!
The PS 300 Tube circuit
Fantastic change after the Multiwave II upgrade! Go for it and trust your ears!Good luck!
Revel studio or B&W 802 Nautilus
Go for the Revels!I'm a fan of Revel's - using the Ultima System myself with McIntosh tubes - even when the Revels ar NOT built for ML gear (who in the world told you that, Kurt_Tank??)
How about a contest?
Good joke!
Wadia 270 Transport w/non Wadia DAC
Tried it with a Theta and dCS DAC but those are no danger for the Wadia 27ix. I think the clocklink is the key to the wonderful reproduction of all kinds of music you get from this combo. What I find interesting is that some CDs like the Resolutio...
Anyone tried running PS Audio P-300 with no fan ?
As I suggested before: go ahead! It's OK that a unit like a PowerPlant is running hot! Every Class A amp does, let alone tube gear. So I never understood the introduction of the fan at all, because if you intend to run high loads where cooling dow...
Mcintosh MC2000 owners please help
My MC 2000 is feeding into the REVEL Ultima System and I am perfectly happy with the result. I listened to the Mac into the Sonus Faber Amati which likewise was just pure excellence. I am sure that if you don't ask for the absolute powerhorse (mor...
Anyone tried running PS Audio P-300 with no fan ?
Go ahead! My PS 300 is feeding the Wadia 270 transport, the Wadia 27ix DAC, the AudioResearch SP14 and a Sony DAT-Recorder. No problem whatsoever. Display reading 80 watts. It's HOT, yes, but I don't care. The Multiwave II upgrade has cooled things...
How long for tube break in
Perfectly agree with the above. Tubes don't break in - they even "wear out" when working - so to speak. So after warming up, which is 30 minutes max they should perform to their fullest potency. Biasing is VITAL!Good luck!
most analog sounding CDP
IMHO this question is not for a simple this or that answer because the sound you get from your system is a teamwork effort of ALL your system's components and sure there is no such thing as an "analoge sound" - there's only the sound of music. I t...
