Noisy pot?
A friend of mine ran into a similar problem years ago and ended up ordering some spray from reichelt.de which evidently cleaned up the contacts. It worked so well he now swears by cheapo pots. Unfortunately, I can't remember offhand what the produ...
Test tones on redbook cd ???
The DCAT-3 can be found at the company website where apparently these can be ordered; alternatively, a search will turn up other sources.
Test tones on redbook cd ???
Perhaps the "DCAT-3" (Diamond Cut Audio Test CD's)?
Found an interesting way to compare IC cables...
Lately I've been doing the same in my (primarily: DIY) cable experiments (and have also just recently acquired a pair of 580s :0) As a twist in the same vein, you might try as well a pair of Grados (RS60, 80 and upwards) which may even be more use...
IC shielding/directionality - Views?
Any input (or a pointer to useful discussion) is very much appreciated. Thanks!
What are the best DIY cables you've heard?
Twl, thanks for the lightning reply - you were so fast, you caught me in the turn! I'll build my first pair of ---'s directly with copper 30ga. (If after lugnut's indiscretion your homebrews become famous, how would you like them to be known in th...
What are the best DIY cables you've heard?

Jazz Recommendations
I'll just quietly slip into the back of the lecture hall and take notes. Since I forget to bring the books on the reading list, I'll consult the *starters'* list of jazz standards and contemporary jazz classics athttp://amadeus.siba.fi/~eonttone/s...
The best books on music
A thread like this deserves to be resuscitated. And books count, so I'll bite. Charles Rosen is probably best known for 'The Classical Style' (1971) and/or 'The Romantic Generation' (1995), but I found his little (114pp) book 'Arnold Schoenberg' (...

Lagavulin seems to me the closest one can come to being overwhelmed by a deluge, a long ebb and tide reeking of peet and smoke without perishing. Almost existential. Otherwise a partiality for Oban, less idiosyncratic, balanced, smooth. Me mate fo...
Why Don't More People Love Audio?
Frasier - "A well-meaning, but egotistical, radio psychiatrist devotes most of his energy to solving the problems of those around him, while managing to create most of the problems that plague his own life [...] Frasier is a good man. His heart is...
