Amp choices I'm sure your LS17 does sound very good on your 8008 as well. A21 is a very nice amp but as noted on our discussion that was deleted, I'm not surprised it didn't destroy your 8008 as they're both very nice amps.
Amp choices Yeah... not sure why it was deleted. Not going to retype what I wrote last but just add are you using a decent power cord on your amp? A Kimber PK10 Gold would work great on your amp.
Help! My system is very bright it hurts my ear What is the floor material in your room? If your’e playing your music to decent or moderate levels and your room is very reflective or lively no cables, or putting a tissue over the tweeter is going to fix things. I’d try only one of your amps and...
Help! My system is very bright it hurts my ear If you're plugging your amps into any cheap power / computer strips pull those out. Plug your amps directly into the wall. If you are by chance using computer type power strips don't plug any of your gear into them; get rid of them. Also if you ha...
Help! My system is very bright it hurts my ear Recordings have a lot to do with it as well. As your system improves and becomes more revealing you'll find most pop recordings are horrible and no matter what you do you cant fix what was done in the studio. If you get a nasty ping when you clap ...
Help! My system is very bright it hurts my ear If you're never taken the time to voice speaker and sitting placement in your room you should.
Help! My system is very bright it hurts my ear Definitely could be. Throw a blanket over it and see / hear what happens. If it's that close it's likely part of your problem.
interconnect choice Correct how Kimber wires the KCAG and SS up. The digital cable has two on the positive and one on the ground; it's reverse of the analog cable. I've listened to both the KCAG and SS and the KCAG is still better. The SS is close but there is a diff...
Help! My system is very bright it hurts my ear When you clap your hands do you get a lot of Slap Echo. Looking at your components real quick nothing jumps out to me. Could be a lot of things but I'd start with your room. Get rid of the echo and see what happens.Question with your speakers why ...
Opinions on Audio Research Ref 5SE vs. Modwright 36.5DM I switched out all the stock tubes which are Sovtek's. Replaced with NOS Mullard GZ34 and EH 6H30 PI from Cryoset Certified. Both sets of tubes really opened it up; sounds less SS. Also using Herbie Tube dampers on all valves. Replaced the stock f...
B&k 200.2 , audio research 100.2 . Parasound a21 . Which one to buy? The 100.2 isn't real tubey or do I think it will fool you being a tube amp but it doesn't sound like a lot of SS amps either; it has no edge to it. A lot of tube amps are starting to sound more like SS amps these days so maybe it is somewhat accur...
B&k 200.2 , audio research 100.2 . Parasound a21 . Which one to buy? admranger: If you need an amp with power and finesse Pass are definitely great amps. If a 100 watt 8 ohm amp that doubles at 4 ohms is enough for your ATCs then the ARC 100.2 will definitely work on very revealing speakers but looks like you need ...
Opinions on Audio Research Ref 5SE vs. Modwright 36.5DM Meant multiple balanced "components" then I tip the scale to ARC.
B&k 200.2 , audio research 100.2 . Parasound a21 . Which one to buy? I’ve listened to the Halo Integrated and it’s nice. Really haven’t done any serious listening to it but what little I have its not in the same league as the ARC 100.2. The Halo is an integrated with DAC and phono included for a lot less than what ...
Opinions on Audio Research Ref 5SE vs. Modwright 36.5DM Now that the Ref 6 is out and the 5 SE's are being discounted it's a tougher decision I suspect. I have the standalone 36.5 and with the tubes and other tweaks I have done to it I am floored by it. It sounded very good with the stock tubes and fus... |
