To all posters: Thanks for all the very interesting responses. Think I'll stick with HW and the no AS crowd. At least for the time being. I am looking for the Telarc Omnidisc and might re-evaluate then.

Thanks Bajaed. I wish I had seen your response earlier. I would've tried them. I did order some Mullards from Upscale Audio. Will update after receipt and installation.

My VPI table and most of the newer ones come with an anti-skating device that they used to offer as an option. Maybe they've decided to give in to popular demand.

Thank you all for your feedback, no pun intended. Am about to install new power cable and a couple of interconnect upgrades. Will try to follow your suggestions and live wit a hopefully reduced tangle.

Take a look at my VPI Nomad on Audiogon. Don't know if it's too pricey but would fit the bill with some powered speakers. I happen to have some Audioengine Bamboo A5's. Let me know if you're interested.

Can't say enough about JMK as well. Easy to deal with. As long as your specs are accurate, they'll do a super job for an unbeatable price. I've recommended the a number of times and everybody has been delighted.
