RCM recommendations Sbrown,Would I like a $2500 RCM better than a $600 RCM? I certainly would and should. I know I would also like a $300 stylus gauge that tells me the VTF to five decimal points better than a $70 one that only tells me only three decimal points (God...
RCM recommendations Sbrown,I'm sorry but I'm a bit skeptical, to say the least, about your experiment. The actual cleaning is done by hand, not the 16.5. Considering how strong the vacuum is on the VPI machine, I seriously doubt it leaves residue that would progressi...
Vinyl lovers I must be crazy The 70's system was a all vinyl system and my current system I strictly listen to Cd's. Is that the problem listening to CD's? All the nostalgia aside, it seems you answered your own question. I remember one of the Stereophile reviewers stating t...
Budget Strategies forTightening up Bass? Based on the impedance curve of the Prelude http://www.stereophile.com/content/silverline-audio-technology-prelude-loudspeaker-measurements, Silverline may not be the best match for a tube amp.Oh, really? Here's a direct quote from the manual:Abou...
Power line question Do you really need a dishwasher? Ever considered a portable dishwasher? Frees up a dedicated 20A circuit... More cupboard space... You can sell that.Ha, ha, indeed, I do not need one! In fact, it has never been used since we moved in. However, my ...
Power line question Jea,I think I do. Here's the breakdown:40 amps (bridged twin) for the oven30 amps (bridged twin) for the washer/dryer20 amps (bridged twin) for the AC15 amps for the living room heater 15 amps (twin, not bridged - still confused what this means) f...
Power line question Thanks guys; this helped a lot. I certainly understand much more about circuits and power usage now. To go back to Elizabeth's advice, my breaker panel actually lists which circuit powers what in the apartment, so they did the job for me. Interest...
Power line question Ska_man, the monoblocks are the Rogue Audio M-180s. Elizabeth, it appears the apartment gets 125 amps total based on the sticker on the breaker panel. This makes sense as there are eight breakers (four of them locked in pairs).
Power line question Thanks! Sounds like this should not be a concern unless I'm blowdrying my balding head while listening to Metallica at a high volume...The monoblocks deliver 150 watts per channel so 300 watts divided by the constant voltage of 115 equals 2.6 amps.
Power line question Thanks Meiwan. How do you determine the power consumption at a given time in a circuit? I looked at the hair dryer and it states volts, watts and Hz, but not amps. No such info is listed on the manufacturer' website either. The sticker on the brea...
Budget Strategies forTightening up Bass? I have these speakers and not only do they put out tremendous bass, but also clean and fast bass. They are powered by the Rogue Audio Cronus tube amp and the combo sounds magical with the VPI Classic and Lyra Delos cart. I don't agree with opinion...
Anyone using a Lyra Delos yet? Thanks Moonglum. The cantilever looks to be perfectly perpendicular to the red front magnet carrier so I guess it's not a low rider and just as it's supposed to be. The sound certainly seems to be confirming it, haha!
Anyone using a Lyra Delos yet? I have a question about low riders. What exactly a low rider makes? My Delos sounds superb, but I noticed that it rides a little lower than it did when I first bought it (or at least it appears so to me, but I wouldn't stake my life on it :) It's ...
VPI Classic I find this rather strange. I too use the Soundsmith device and it works great. Saying it adds "decentralized mass" is like claiming a counterweight with a few extra grams of weight would destabilize the tonearm, which is very unlikely if not impo...
Vinyl cleanliness Bad quality vinyl will pop and click brand new even if cleaned with an RCM. It's because the vinyl itself is contaminated and there is nothing you can do to remove what's embedded in the pressing. I do have many albums that sound incredibly quiet,... |
