On second thought I can hear Jim Hall in Abercrombie, Scofield and Frisell.

On one of my earlier post the main point was, say you don't like a musical period, lets say fusion, and you don't learn the language, because why should you; You HATE fusion.  Years later you may miss out on a great guitarist like John Abercrombie...
