Jadis Orchestra Reference SE and DA-50 Integrateds Hey Joe, you have me salivating. Maybe I should just buy your DA30 and quit dilly dallying. Incidentally, CJ just informed me that I shouldn't be using my Sylvania 3-mica black plate 5751s in place of the 12AX7s in my MV55. They said "the circuit ...
Spaker Question I went from Paradigm 100.2s to JM Lab Electra 926s in my system. The difference is unbelieveable. The JM Labs have a soundstage precision and timbral finesse that the Paradigms never could muster. The other big improvement is in resolution where t...
Tubes and microphonics Herbie's worked great for me when I had a VK-3i.
hum from nearby high-tension wires? Just as I figured. You'd be amazed how many houses have bad grounds. Keep us posted on the repair.
Vienna acoustics Mozart: Who knows? Salut Laurent! I am French but will continue in English for the sake of others. Did you read the Diapason review of the VA Mozart? Actually, it may have been Baby Mozart. They really liked it. I bet Kora gear would sound great with them but the 90...
Speakers To Use With McIntosh Receiver.... The 4100 has a highish output impedance (i.e. low damping factor) so you have to keep that in mind when choosing a speaker for it. Today's speakers have a much lower impedance in general and the 4100 will not like that. I would suggest the JM Lab ...
vote- best looking veenered monitors? I'll second the Omegas. I had TS1s with Sapele and they looked stunning. I couldn't believe the finish on them for an $800 speaker.
hum from nearby high-tension wires? Based on your second post, I don't think the power lines are the problem. EM fields extinguish rapidly in air - if you were between them and the ground (i.e., under the power lines) then there could be an issue but not if you are 100 feet away. My...
Tube 2nd system for 5k. If you insist on Chinese, the Consonance Ref SACD is great and goes for cheap used. Also the Cayin 500 is really nice but kind of hard to find in the USA. As for speakers, I find Chinese gear needs rather detailed and forward speakers to compensat...
Does having an object inbetween the speakers bad? Ditto Kal. Your room can play a huge role.
How does Pass Aleph 1.2 compare to McIntosh? A done deal!?! You trust Treed that much? ;) If you want to try an Aleph, do it. Simple as that - but be sure to post what you think of it. Arthur
jm lab grand utopia be--- any thoughts ? Gotta love these people who make sweeping generalizations of a brand based on a couple crappy hotel room demos! That speaks volumes doesn't it? too funny.
BEST monitor speaker with a 90db senitivity rating I have been really enjoying a pair of Triangle Comete ES at 91 dB sensitive and although I haven't seen their impedance curve, my CJ MV55 is really happy with them (can't say that about my JM Lab Electra 926s). I bet I could successfully get by wi...
Is tube Amp more Power...??? I am not positive but 45W from 2 6550s would seem to indicate push-pull class AB. Arthur
Cary 303/300 Analog Volume Control... Jim is right. You get the best signal to noise ratio when the volume is set to max. This is assuming your preamp is a rather good one. |
