Controling the main system from the second zone
If your preamp has a repeater input, get a keypad. McIntosh does this but I don't know about B&K.
Audio Refinement Complete owners: please advise
IMO, you need French speakers if you want floorstanders with that amp. I would highly recommend Triangle speakers. I don't think the AR Comp would be able to handle 100v2s effectively (I used to own a pair). Arthur
Maggies with Mark Levinson preamp/amp
Why do you think it could sound bad? Just go for it.
Second Chance offer Scams on ebay?
If it is too good to be true...
Aleph 5 - buzzing sound when hot?
My guess is it needs rebiasing. That is a common problem with well-used class A zero-feedback designs.
Wanted:Warm, Sweet preamp.
I would suggest the Cary SLP-98. Excellent sounding pre.
Stereo amp/pre combo for mini utopias?
The Minis are a very fine choice. You are starting off right in my opinion. I have JM Lab Electras and really enjoy McIntosh gear with them. I have tried many amps and some just don't really work with JM Labs - like my CJ MV55. However tubes are g...
Big Mcintosh MC1000 pwr amp s?
McIntosh is a great choice with JM Lab. I love my combination, though far less gradiose as yours Marcelo. I agree that the Mc150/300/500/1000 series, from my experience, is farily mellow - or at least more so than the next 2 generations that follo...
If yhou were to start a shop which brands.........
B&W? They are part of a giant mega-company that will require huge amounts of inventory that a small 2-channel hifi shop will never be able to afford. I think small yet interesting brands would be the way to go. The USA doesn't have nearly as m...
Which to turn on first...Amp or preamp?
Does the push-pull problem still happen when the volume control is ALL the way down on the preamp? The buzz sounds normal to me - nearly all the tube gear I have owned has it - but the push pull indicates a near-DC signal coming out of your system.
Which is best American Amp in $1500-2000 range?
I second the MA6500.
Do class A amps draw power even when turned off?
Only when turned on and not playing music (i.e., volume turned all the way down or source is stopped). Turn the volume up and the power usage goes up from 300W.
"WET" Soundstage?
I understand it as plenty of harmonic reproduction - little singling out of the fundamental frequencies. This would be the opposite of "dry" where harmonics are chopped off making the signals sound quicker but with less body. The real/natural effe...
Anyone heard these? How do they sound?
Tim, I am just saying lots of context is necessary.Funny enough, I read the editorial while on the toilet too.
Spikes versus Rubber on wood floor?
inpepinnovations - stick around here and you'll find out. Otherwise, just buy the cheapest new stereo you can find and enjoy how well it measures.
