Pass Labs Service
I say it everytime I get a chance. Pass Labs and their personnel are the best in the business. Peter Perkins and Wayne Colburn are top notch characters. As for a CD player from Pass. It isn't necessary, find a D1 D/A converter. I have owned the 77...
Which preamp- Pass Labs X1 vs Cary SLP2002
I would also suggest the X1 to go with the X350. Once you chose the X350, you set yourself up for an X series preamp. Its that whole "Super-Symmetric circuit topology" that sucks us in to the amplifier's mated preamps. Having gone from an X1 to an...
Pass X-250 Owners Power Cable of Choice
Peter, I also have dedicated lines if it matters. I also used to own Alephs and can say with all certainty Aleph series equipment and X-Series Pass gear are VERY different. Having said that, I went through a few cables with the Pass X250 before se...
Used Pass 600monos or Rowland 8TiHC?
My vote is for Pass Labs. I have a few pieces of Pass Labs equipment and enjoy all of it. I realize that there is a lot of top notch gear from other manufacturers, too. That is why I use customer service and management of a manufacturer to tip the...
Satellite or CATV?
I would suggest Dish Network. THe best thing you can do is go to a few Satellite dealers/ installers and ask about package prices and to see the pictures. If HDTV is your focus, then DishNetwork will most likely be your choice. If just non-HDTV, t...

Why Put Up With "Wife Approval Factor"?
Tube Miser,The ARC comment is correct. It is one of the things (besides sound) that I enjoyed about owning ARC. I now have Pass Labs Equipment and fortunately it all sorta looks the same, too. Problem is as you move up the line of preamps each has...
What's wrong with my Adcom ACE-515?
If the unswitched outlet works, but switched ones don't, then it must be in the switched circuit. Check all external controls first and then look inside for a relay or something else in the switched circuit that isn't shared with the unswitched ci...
I am looking to upgrade my amp and preamp.
The X250 will more than adequately drive the Dunlavys. I have a X250 with SC-Vs and they sound very good together. Prior to my X0.2 purchase, I had the X1 (mk2) and was happy enough with it to buy a X0.2 for extra balanced ins and outs. I think yo...
Can someone recommend a few Joni Michell albums?
My favorite is "Both Sides Now."
Question about Aesthetix cartridge demagnetizer...
RWD,I would suggest using a different cable. In my experience, it sounded better to demag only the cart. This may be because of my particular cable, though. It is a Hovland Microgroove 2 (MG2). On the Active Designers Refs, it seemed to make no di...
Receiver vs Processor
I offer another vote for a DC1 as a budget pre-pro only. They are outstanding once set up properly and have plenty of inputs for most people's theaters. I would not use one as a music only piece, but definitely as a theater only piece. Just be sur...
Try running satellite dish through DAC for music
I would have to agree. The Dish Network signals are very good in quality when processed through a DAC. I have a Fanfare FT1A and live in in Chicago, so I have a good share of quality FM programs. I STILL prefer the the Dish Music on weekends. I do...
Suggestion for Amp to 2 ohm loads?
For an amplifier without a sonic signature that is stable "with any load," I recommend the Pass Labs X250. The smaller X150 may do it, but the X250 definitely will. And at 2 ohms, the X250 is rated at a 1000 watt output.Best Regards.
Help setting up cartridge VTA
Twl,I respectfully disagree with you. Negative VTA can be necessary with certain cartridges. One example is the Sumiko Celebration, a very musical pearwood cartridge. In its thorough set up guide (complete with diagrams), Sumiko suggests a 1.2 deg...
