Recomended amps for Dunlavy SC111 A newer Pass Labs Amp will do a great job. SC-3s don't require much more than a X150, but the X250 is priced so reasonably, it would be a shame not to make the additional leap now for any future speaker changes that may occur later.Best Regards,
Best "on wall" speakers If you are able to find a pair of Dunlavy WL-1s, you should give them serious consideration. They image excellently and have the colorless sound of the Dunlavy lore. Good bass and mid balance. I know a cabinet maker that is still making WL-1 repli...
Why does my seperate tuner sound so bad? Ronald, You have good equipment, antennae and fine cable. Assuming it is all working properly, you have some sort of ghost in the machine(s). I would suggest taking your tuner to a friends house and see if the problem persists there. Conversely, tr...
Pass X250, Classe CAM200 or... Pass Labs' X-Series gets my vote over Classe, Krell and ML everytime as long as similar priced items are compared. The Pass X series X250 and above will have no trouble running the Maggies.
Splitting up HT and 2 Channel systems Sounds like a good idea. Do it and if you're not happy, then put it back or modify the portion you're not happy with. I have a combo system with a throughput also. Just having the RPTV out of the room seemed to help tremendously. The audio gear li...
Dunlavy repair Shumi, You may find the help you need here if you explain the problem. There are plenty of us Dunlavy owners here.
Dunlavys for HT Dunlavy WL1 are outstanding matches for the SC-Vs. I use one for the front going horizontal with the rears being vertical. They have a large "face print," but are shallow off the wall. They have a surprisingly good low end for the speaker's appear...
power cables for Cary 303/100 cdp/Pass X I can not comment on the Cary units. The Pass gear I have has responded the most favorably to Syn Research cables and the Van den Huls. The X250s like Des Ref squared($), but other Pass pieces were fine with less expensive Res Refs and single Des ...
Sony SACD Owners: Anyone Use a DAC for Redbook? The players make better transports for high quality DACs than they do as Red Book players. I have used a SCD-1 and a 9000es as transports with a Pass Labs D1, and the Sonys could not compare for simple redbook as stand alones. Compared to other tr...
"Best" cable elevators? Another solution is to use a four inch PVC pipe. Use a hole saw to drill the holes of the desired diameter in the PVC. These will need to be 75% larger than large enough to hold whichever cables you are going to be lifting. Drill the holes at a di...
Sacd / Dvda universal players Go with the RT10. I am only considering all things which are important to me -- great audio and video- all at a reasonable price. They are hard to find right now due to short supply, but it sure would look great with your existing silver gear. My ...
Best 200 watt x 5 amp for the money? Take a look at the Anthem multichannels. The older 5 channel is the MCA5, newer one is MCA50. They are also available in 2 and 3 channel versions. Great deals for the price. Solid and sound pretty good. http://www.anthemav.com/NewSitev2.0/AnthemPr...
Sansui 717 - "System A and B" Help Ipous,You are fine running it that way. You won't hurt anything. The impedances are fine for that integrated, assuming it is non-biwired. By the way if you ever want another 717, I have one here waiting for a new home. AaronM
Are there any balanced electronic X-over's? Pass Labs has a very functional and affordable balanced/SE unit called the XRV. Nelson Pass has been doing active crossovers for a long time. I believe all the Threshold units were from his mind. Here is the link:http://passlabs.com/prodlit/xvr1li...
Most underated albums...... I think of this category as albums people have not heard of and when listen, demand to know who they are and where to acquire them. Using this criteria, items that come to mind are Milla's The Divine Comedy and Eros Ramazzotti's Eros in Concert. M... |
