Johnny Smith recordings
thanks for the response. I'll look for the Mosaic discs. Maybe the material from Moon Over Vermont will be on it and sound better.
Do you enjoy the sound at your local Theater Plex?
Way too loud. I frequently ask the manager to turn down the volume at local theaters. Sometimes they actually do it, and I make it a point to thank them later. Once, I was told that, for IMAX productions, there is no local control over sound, incl...
Bit-perfect backups
Thanks, folks.
Audio Research preamp ratings & sound differences
My first AR preamp was the LS3B, a wonderful, pure sounding unit and built like a tank. Next, I bought a used SP14 and found it's sound to be, overall, a little less forward and otherwise very much like the LS3B (I didn't use the phono stage). Ult...
best floor in listening room
Thanks for the insights, and counseling,
best floor in listening room
Ah, I think I get it. It's easier to change the system than the wife. Many good monitors out there. Thanks, folks.
Anyone going to the Rocky Mountain Audio show??
Agree that Garcia's isn't top-shelf TexMex. Within walking distance, though, very good cocktails and steaks can be had at the Cool River Cafe. Also within a few blocks, is Soundings, which was showing Vienna Acoustics The Music speakers last time ...
So long, Paul Revere and Mike Auldrige
oops, didn't know of Mike's earlier passing. Saw him with Chesapeake and was mightily impressed.
RMAF - Loudspeakers that you don't want to miss
I'll be interested in the Raidho speakers, after reading glowing reviews.
Diminishing Interest in POP. I hate earworms
My wife swears that the universal antidote to any earworm is to sing "Bang a Gong". Maybe, but the cure will kill you!
Anyone going to RMAF this year?
I didn't check with the head of the household....I wonder if she'll notice I'm missing for a couple days..
Who believes that Robert Plant
Mmm, spent a lot of hours with Ian Gillan and Burton Cummings. And let's not forget the ladies. Lydia Pence, anyone?
I would love some suggestions on great acoustic...
You didn't specify a genre, so this list is a little far-ranging, but they're all marvelous.Earl Klugh (Solo Guitar and Handpicked are good choices)Laurence Juber (take your pick, Guitarist is good)Joe Pass (Songs for Ellen)Henry Mancini -Pink Gui...
The Loss of a Jazz Hero - Joe Sample
I recall hearing the Crusaders' "Scratch" for the first time at a friend's house and running right out for a copy. My last Joe Sample disc was "Carmel" in the 70's, but I got a lot of pleasure from Joe over the years. Sad news.
Need some recommendations - hard driving big band
There are more knowledgeable folks on this site than me, but I recommend the Buddy Rich Big Band or Woody Herman's Thundering Herd. If you want driving music that bridges rock and big band, you might try Chase "Pure Music".
