What's your favorite lyric from a song?
I dug out an old Jerry Jeff Walker LP the other day and was reminded of these lyrics..."Now, I'm not sayin' she was a big chick or anything, but one time I did ask her what size bra she wore, and she said 6 and 7/8,I said, 6 and 7/8, my God what'd y...
Out of production reference turntables
Anyone ever hear one of the tables produced by Tube Research Labs (designed by Paul Weitzel and brother of Record Research Lab's Brian Weitzel)?
RRL Showed up at my door yesterday....
Yeah, no argument here, only the personal preferences of a cheapskate. Whatever works us all makes me happiest. Now, if they would just clean themselves........
RRL Showed up at my door yesterday....
I'm with Joe on this one. The LAST brushes are very effective, in my experience, and have a couple of ancillary benefits. They are relatively cheap so if one gets "boogered", like getting oil or something greasy on the fibers by mistake, you pitch...
Channel Imbalance
Divo, if you have the Graham (I have a 2.2), use a small bubble level and place it across the front of your head shell to set your azimuth initally. If the head shell is level based on this, it should be close enough that you don't have the imbala...
Steely Dan's "Everything Must Go" harmonics...
The link worked for me.Hey when you get the licks down from Greenbook and Lunch With Gina, consider yourself and expert - and call me for a listen! :-)
Channel Imbalance
Marakanetz is correct that either can be an issue. Have you tried other sources such as CD or tuner to see if the problem is specific to the vinyl front end? In vinyl, have you listened to a range of records to isoloate perhaps a bad recording or ...
Cartridge "demagging"
Geez, next to vinyl vs. the "D" word and Tubes vs. SS, the Mag vs. De-mag topic seems to split audiophiles like few others. You hear all kinds of comments pro and con. To make matters even more confusing, I've heard cogent, convincing arguments fr...
Trelja- announcement and disclaimer
Joe, all the best. Not that this is the end of anything - just a new beginning. Thanks for your correspondence via e-mails with me, especially with respect to upgrade suggestions to my old PSB's.
Good Quality Distilled Water???
I am gratified that Michael (motdathird) and others have found the RRL samples useful and have used them succesfully. I am happy to continue the tradition established by Albert and maybe someone will pick up the torch later.Herman, check your e-ma...
Good Quality Distilled Water???
Focusedfx, serve it over shaved ice, with a twist....
Good Quality Distilled Water???
Of course, I will jump in on the RRL bandwagon, having been on it for some time following my comparisons to many other fluids. Joe, I'm glad to hear someone has a cleaning process that is more anal than mine.I was also impressed by Albert's past o...
Graham and Shelter matching - and other arms/carts
Doug, you can buy a VTA adjuster now for the Vector that will set you back about $700. Supposedly, it is also removable.
Graham and Shelter matching - and other arms/carts
Patrick, sorry such has turned out to be the case with the 901. My personal experience was with the 501 and, though the compliance is the same, I didn't have the same issues. Fortunatley there are a number of cartridges out there that do work very...
best turntable for 500$ or less
If you are in any way capable, it is sounding more and more like the first response to this thread question is correct. Since I am starting a new project based on one of these, I will soon know for myself!
