Jadis JA30 - Quad ESL63 .. 4,8 or 16ohms? My Defy 7 sounded better on 4 ohm taps and it makes sense when one factors in that ESL's require the most power in the highs (the speaker acts like a big capacitor as a load). FWIW, I doubt if they have enough power regardless of what tap you use.
Off brand hdtv sets..... I'm with Tvad on this one. What it really comes down to for me is what do I want. For me in this case, after doing exhaustive research I bought a Sony. The primary reason being that I had the last one for twenty years, and the extra expense factor...

Is there any mini-jack converter for the Mac Mini I think optical is the only other digital output, Mono price has cables with the correct terminations.
kt88 base temperature I am with Nsgarch for the most part. Microphonics used to be less of an issue in the day, as they were selected out and often rebranded. If the tubes are truly loose in their sockets (common) you should carefully tighten the pin connections of the...

Long USB Cable OK? Although I can hear a difference in usb cabling, on my second system I use an optical 10 meter usb cable. I prefer it over wifi. On my main rig I am using a 2m Kimber Kable and like it very much...
Low Cost Surround Speakers Decent Monitors Silly as it may be, I like my old Ohm Walsh 3's as rear channel speakers...
Best transport for $500.ooish I didn't like the oppo as a transport only device (had the 970, now use the 983) and neither can compare to using a computer as a transport via a usb adapter IMO.
Power PC G3 as music source? I've used g3's, but you will appreciate a newer cpu if you can afford it. The one that I used would hang occasionally, forcing me to pull the plug ( may have been spotty ram). If you do not want to afford a new machine, at least buy some new/large...
And digital rippers that can read external HD's? Why not just by a computer? |
