Magico's M9
Lets see. The Magico M9 is $750k. I will admit I am a blue collar guy so I am going to spend all this money assuming I have already put investments aside. I live in Ohio so I can get a very nice home for $400k and I can have a dedicated room for a...
Mac Mini As A Streaming Source
Opinions should be treated "as another way of doing things". This is a forum where we share ideas. I think there is bias, yes. I also think there is bone headed arrogance and rudeness. But in the end, it's like a wise person said once, " You do yo...
Mac Mini As A Streaming Source
I had used an Apple computer in the distant past as a music server but changed over to a dedicated audio streamer mostly because I believed that a home computer is a device designed to do many things well, including acting as a music source but a ...
Magico's M9
I think it was Jay's Audio who once reviewed a pair of Magico speakers and said the tweeter was like $13k... if it blew out and if you crated up one speaker and sent it back to Magico to fix they would email you back when the work was finished and...
What happened to all the highend stereo shops
crlambert 1 Read ghasley comments and learn something. 2 Smoke a good doobie and chill out. 3 To the OP, I am apologizing to you for all the inappropriate comments. 4 I am a veteran myself and gives thanks or help veterans everyday as part of ...
Considering a Node2i, what else should I be looking at?
Very happy with Node and Vault. The customer service has been 110% and those guys go above and beyond. The ONLY drawback I see is the wireless connection is not always reliable. But wired to a rounter has been perfect. I have been very impressed w...
Best quality connection from Network Streamer (BluSound Node II) to Preamp (MC C2700)
I agree with jjss49 and carlsbad2. I have a Node 2 and used the internal DAC, then moved to a Schiit Bifrost DAC, then to a Bifrost 2 DAC, then to a Denafrips Pontus 12th DAC and it was an uptick in sound performance with each step. I also upgrade...
When are speakers considered Hi-Fi and not Mid-Fi???
Okay Alex. You have solved this mystery, once and for all. I bow to your knowledge.
What happened to all the highend stereo shops
The demand for HiFi and Hi End audio is diminishing. The younger generations don’t spend large sums of money on this hobby. Yes there is a turntable guy here and there, but the ones they buy to spin records are not high dollar investments in tonea...
When are speakers considered Hi-Fi and not Mid-Fi???
I say this again, "You see what is behind your eyes, not what is in front of them". You are going to get 1 million answers and each one is correct in that person's mind. The minds eye.  The same holds true for ears and hearing...
Amp vs Preamp which is more important?
The amp is far more important. Why? Because there are many components that one can use with the amp that have preamp capability and functions. Many will keep the signal path simpler and negate the need for a preamp.
I am interested to update my 15 year old system !
If you like Bluesound, you can purchase a Vault and point the address where your files are on the Harddrive of the Macbook pro. I think you can do that with your Node now. Either will play them on your stereo. Additionally you can copy any new CD ...
When are speakers considered Hi-Fi and not Mid-Fi???
HiFi means High Fidelity. Largely it’s in your mind and relative. When someone attaches a label to a piece of gear/kit, that is what it is in their mind (they may have never heard the audio component before). For some who go to audio shows and hav...
Salk Future TBD
I have never owned any Salk speakers but from what I have gathered from reading and looking at his speakers I have admired the craftsmanship and Jim seems very professional and likable. This brand and Volti audio were on my bucket list for speaker...
Picking Speakers 20k-30k
If it were me, I would not rush to buy speakers in that price range. Too many good choices and I would take my time to get the best one for me. I would travel to dealers and have them set up speakers/equipment based upon my conversations with them...
