un-becoming an audiophile
Sometimes I feel very ashamed to have spent so much on my system, or even my music collection, while people are starving and homeless. The only justification I have is that perhaps some of the music mekes me more compassionate and generous.
Do You Play Or Save Your Best Cartridges
Depends on the LP. I won't use my best cartridge on some of my cherished albums from my youth long, long ago. I only have one  cartridge with a conical stylus for 78s and it's sure not my best one. Besides, from time to time a change is nice. Then...
5 Dumb Things Audiophiles Believes.
Life is just too short.
Sad songs- We love them- We need them
Cowboy Junkies, Come Calling (his Song) and Come Calling (her Song) A lifetime of love overshadowed by dementia. I wonder what inspired that? I'll include the "Her" version. You can easily find the "His".

I'll have to contemplate before I can respond on my own behalf; but I know my daughter's choice. When she was about three I was singing lullabies to get her to sleep. For some reason I went into "You are My Sunshine". She started crying inconsolab...
PINK FLOYD ANIMALS SACD VERSUS BLU RAY AUDIO
I don't know but I have David Gilmour's Rattle That Lock and the SACD definitely sounds better to me, even though in my side-by-side the Blu Ray was in a modified Oppo BDP-105 while the SACD was in a supposedly superior Ayre C-5xeMP. YMMV
What are/were the best sounding cheap components you have ever had?
Boston Acoustics T-830 series II speakers circa 1993. Still sound great! Stax SR4/SRD40, although it seemed like a fortune to a kid just starting his career in 1975.
Shave your CDs
I think the more relevant issue is comparing the objective measurement with the "expert" reviews. Measurement=no difference "Audiophile journalist=more transparency, pace, and other unmeasurable BS. Does it discredit the reviewers or prove that ...

@bdp24  Thanks!

@bdp24 , Which of Ms. Welch's albums do you recommend as an introduction? I know The Harrow & The Harvest is pretty popular.
What the ship just happened?
@ahg_ca, I never saw an H in FUBAR before. What does it stand for? Is this the same acronym that was used by naval officers in the old days? .....beyond all recognition?

Thanks for the thread @Jusam. The problem with such engaging threads, especially those asking for favorites, is that the become too long to read to the very end before you respond unless you have hours and hours. I think that is a testament to the...
Current Universal Players
I have an Oppo BDP-105 with EVS mods and an Ayre C-5xeMP. The Oppo decodes HDCD and has USB input, which I find invaluable. I have nor compared them side by side except for red book CD and SACD. The Ayre MAY sound slightly mor pleasing on red boo...

what’s a song cover that you think is better than the original?
Listen to any Linda Ronstadt album and you'll hear several. @inscrutable , I especially like Bonnie's cover of McCuller & Lasly"s I Can't Make You Love Me.
