9 year old Parasound Jc 1s or new Bel Canto 1000m monos?
Bel Canto's are some of the best examples of class D done right.  But usually the best way to approach a new system is to select the speakers first, and then get amps to complement.  It's certainly possible to do it amp first, or any other compone...
Your favorite BEACH BOYS LP besides PET SOUNDS
Beach Boys, me and my wife’s fave go to road music. There’s a lot of knowledge in this thread, thanks a lot. I was a kid in the 70’s and didn’t get into the Beach Boys until the early eighties through my buddy’s Endless Summer LP. They had some mu...
How bad is the damage to my speakers?
In the immortal words of the Terminator when Kate shot him in the mouth at the cemetary, "Don’t do dat." Repeat these words every time you are about to plug in your iphone without checking the volume.
Power cords at ridiculous prices?
In all of the internet world, this has to be some kind of record.  resurrecting a FIFTEEN year old thread!!! Is there some kind of award for this?
Speakers that will bring me down to me knees crying with joy
I picked up a pair of Tannoy DC4 bookshelfs 3 years ago, and they've become my favorites.  Very nice midrange and they image like crazy.  Maybe I should get a pair of DC8's or something...
Speakers that will bring me down to me knees crying with joy
Most of the speakers being discussed are way over my budget but you gotta love this thread title!  Way better than the other one called, "Speakers that are very accurate sounding but don't produce an emotional connection".  Maybe it's just me…:)I'...
Adcom GFA 5500 vs. Parasound A21
Adcom was well into decline when the 5500 came around.  The A21 was designed by John Curl, and has class A output for the first several watts.  How is that a move sideways?
why do people feel the need to buy expensive cable
Are you kidding?  We might as be talking religion, here!  It'll never end and one day one side may start a holy war!  LOL
Denon to Parasound
I've got both some Parasound gear, and the Denon 4520 in separate systems.  The Denon actually surprised me for music reproduction, and I think it would be fine as a pre.  I think it is the excellent room correction that really allows music to pop...
why do people feel the need to buy expensive cable
Well, don't get on a rant or anything!  I suppose it appears that some high end stuff is really expensive, but you or I have no basis to know whether they are simply priced at the usual mark up from manufacturer to wholesaler to retail.  I do know...
50 hours of research = 1 amp for Totem Sttaf
I was asked on the avs forum about possible amps for a pair of Totem Forest Signatures.  If you're familiar with that forum I'm sure you can predict the response!  Several posters jumping in loudly claiming all amps sound the same and anything exp...
Cables and reviewers
To the OP:  Your logic seems good, but I think there are too many variables in each one's system, room, and hearing to draw any conclusions.  I was happy believing that cables were all the same until I tried a $4000 per foot cable(Okay, I couldn't...
Is the move up to Parasound Halo A21 worth it?
Jl35, your impressions of the A23 are also against what most have found when comparing to the A21. If you liked the A23, then you'd love the A21.  Something was at play there.  Maybe the amp was defective.  Perhaps one of your cables was not seate...
Is the move up to Parasound Halo A21 worth it?
If you found it bland, then there was something in your system that was at fault, or perhaps your speakers didn't blend so well.  The A21 has the detail and imaging I'd been missing.  Better cabling shows up in the sound as well.  Hey, buy what yo...
Is the move up to Parasound Halo A21 worth it?
Based on the above comparison between the A23 and A21, I'd concur that upgrading the amp would be a higher priority than cables.  When the time comes for cables, there are several good options and I think your system could certainly benefit.
