Moving on from Parasound A21 (maybe?)
Prof, your description of the A21 Not delivering some of the high detail was what  I heard for myself with certain tracks of music that had more detail in my car system. I’m not sure why Parasound  tuned the a 21 this way but after I noticed that ...
Advice please on up to $10k to upgrade pre amp, dac, phono, and power amp
It looks like theMonitor Audio Gold 300 are significantly expensive speakers, and capable of pretty fine detail.  The Emotiva amp is probably not in that category.  I looked it up to find it's yet another amp that Emotiva has introduced with great...
Synergy problem
Mofojo's experience is a bit of an outlier.  If you have to EQ the sound with an iphone, obviously some other things are at play.
Moving on from Parasound A21 (maybe?)
Sorry for the misunderstanding, I was questioning the idea of replacing tweeter and midrange capacitors in a pair of $8000 speakers.
Moving on from Parasound A21 (maybe?)
In a pair of $8000 speakers?   Another thought in in addition to my earlier post is to see what a Focal dealer would suggest.  They usually carry products that are found to have synergy with each other.  I am seriously impressed at the current Adc...
Moving on from Parasound A21 (maybe?)
I owned the A21  for four years and also became disenchanted, with it and a P7. I experimented with a few different options including NAD  integrated amplifiers and finally ended up with an Adcom amp, the 555SE.  It’s been a revelation for me, Ad...
Adcom?
I thought I'd update my experience with the new GFA 555SE.  Once again, my system is a Parasound Halo P5, 555SE, Schiit Bifrost Multibit, Nad cd player(C565BEE) and Totem Acoustic Rainmakers which are bookshelf speakers that can get harsh with som...
Dealers hijacking the discussions
I certainly have seen specific brand or model threads being frequented by dealers or owners of the company on occasion, which can get bothersome.  But IMHO, the worst offenders are the fanboys.   Let me say first, though, that there are great fanb...
Looking For A Change
Interesting to hear about the Bryston characteristics, I've only heard a Bryston combo once, and the speakers did not do them justice.  My post above may not have been clear about the Halo A21.  When I mentioned it excelled at higher volumes, I me...
Looking For A Change
The Vidar is interesting, I was considering it and then for some reason bought a brand new Adcom amp, the 555SE.  I'm still breaking it in, but am not sure it would be the best for classical.  One amp that would is the Parasound A21.  When I went ...
Former Tekton owners: What have you moved on to?
Mofojo, I don't see the point of you repeating all of your old argument points yet again, and expecting a response from me.  Just go back and reread my previous responses in whichever old Tekton thread you made these points in.
Former Tekton owners: What have you moved on to?
Good grief James, you really need to get a life. You start a thread on canuckaudiomart about Tekton, and in short order start praising the Double Impacts, which you freely admit cost you $4900 Canadian dollars. You say:They are an absolute steal f...
Former Tekton owners: What have you moved on to?
hfaddict, it's always interesting to find someone who believes that one should never comment or speculate on a component unless one has paid the entrance fee and bought one.  Unfortunately for you, this is the internet, not your living room.  I no...
Former Tekton owners: What have you moved on to?
Granny, you say you don’t want want to argue and then go ahead anyway.
Adcom?
The new models are almost entirely based on the classic models from their heyday, except with upgraded wiring and circuitry to meet current safety standards, etc.  Also upgraded circuit boards.  Still, the new models have improved specs in some ar...
