Looking for amp $1000 or under It might not be a bad idea to mention the pre amp as well, it will have something to say about the end result. I’m also wondering about the cabling, or at least the speaker cables. Hopefully pizzamn is using more than just lamp cord.
A21 vs McCormack? Just a side bar, but the A21 is not made in China. Joecollege is plain wrong and all he had to do was a simple fact check before typing.
High value, giant killer speakers? Incorrect. The Vidar is a very robust design that Schiit has even demoed with Maggies. They wouldn’t do that if it revealed weaknesses in their amp. The little LRS is getting 200wpc with the Vidar.when I got the Vidar I was surprised that it h...
Best budget preamp for my entry level system? For anyone reading this thread after the fact, some thoughts come to mind. Starting a thread here(or most audio forums) and asking an open ended question like what budget preamp should I buy, is not going to be very helpful as you can see above. D...
Long time analog user dips his toe in Schiit, Grungnir multibit. Another Canadian owner of the Gumby chiming in. I tried Emotiva and Audioquest DACs previously and was blown away by the Schiit Modi Uber. So much so that I immediately knew that schiit was making seriously good er, stuff, and quickly traded it in...
Anybody know what happened at JOB... I think the question is not whether they did stop, but WHY did they stop manufacturing. So far, it appears that we only have speculation as to why. I'm curious as to this as well, and wonder if anyone has any actual facts on why they folded.
Why I prefer gear that is made domestically I never thought about the repairs angle. I guess it’s never been much of an issue for me until recently. My Schiit Saga concerned me after I inserted the tube the wrong way(!!) and I caught a little whiff of electronics letting out the magic smoke...
Recommendations for Vintage Speakers I love that line, “...who has had all of the above mentioned speakers”. What an amazing coincidence that this young thread would mention each and every model that “vintage joe” owned, huh?!
Anyone running Schiit Audio Freya preamp and a pair of Vidar power amps? What speakers? I don’t have the Freya or twin Vidars, just one with their Saga pre. This combo has holographic, in-the-room imaging that even now is jaw dropping to me at times, with good recordings. But even lousy ones sound far better than they used to. They'v...
Again the topic of weight of amps Roxy, what you want is the Schiit Vidar x 2. An amp that is 22 lbs and does 400 watts in mono block mode. Only caveat is it needs to be connected to the pre with XLR cables for mono operation. Class a/b, made in USA, 5 yr warranty. Worth a look.
Best budget preamp for my entry level system? Check out the Schiit Audio Saga. They are clearing out the last of them with intro of the upgraded models. It's on B stock for 200. I bought this and compared it to my Parasound Halo P5 and it was no contest. The Saga was clearly superior with...
Upgrading sub to get a live feel. I just checked the OP's posts and he hasn't mentioned the size of the room, unless I missed it, or someone else correctly guessed it in one of the many verbose other posts. The cubic footage is crucial. Also, the shape of the room ( L shape??), ...
PREAMP - Thoughts on Emotiva XSP-1 Preamps, I’ve tried a few. My take away is that the pre is supposed to do as little as possible to the signal or sound.I haven’t tried the XSP, but the best sounding unit I’ve had is the Schiit Saga. It’s magic is that it uses discrete circuitry...
I've never believed much in cables, that said... (USB) For Anyone reading this after the fact, I have now tried four different USB cables. Generic USB, audio quest cinnamon, Wireworld Starlight 7 USB and the Pangea Premier XL USB.My system has upgraded cables at every location, though nothing cost me ...
Just received shipment of my Magnepan LRS’s You may not have noticed, but people on multiple forums are saying it’s at least a 2 month wait. I contacted Magnepan about a month ago asking what kind of wait to expect(told them I’d be looking to buy later in the fall), and was told 5 to 8 week... |
