Dave Brubeck Quartet featuring Paul Desmond: Jazz at the Blackhawk.

A red vinyl album I picked up at a garage sale. It's slightly trashed, but I just love it.
Bruce Springsteen "The Promise". After listening the first time, I was very disapointed and put away on my record rack. Last night I started revisiting springsteen. Born to Run, Greetings from Asbury Park, etc. Then I listen to Darkness at the Edge of Town. I forgot how great an album it was. So I gave the Promise another spin. Side B would be the weekest side in my oppinion. Having said that, BETTER THEN 90% OF EVERYTHING ELSE OUT THERE! You think about it, this is what did not make it on to the album. Unbelivable. Much better then I first thought. First rate package. Well worth the money and the spin. MUST HAVE for Springsteen fans. Lets face it, who is not a Springsteen fan? Even John Lennon new he was great! **** 1/2
About two months ago I preordered the Dylan mono box set and the Witmark demos. I recieved the demos a few weeks ago. Like most of the Dylan bootleg series, I was disapointed and could have gone without. Hype again! Two days ago I got the Mono box set. I was not even going to bother opening it. But it came with plastic wrap mostly ripped off. So reluctently, I unpacked and figured what the hell? If you are a Dylan fan, if you were there in 1974 when he did his come back world tour with the band, if you love Dylan and understand his true greatness, this box set will make you relize he was/is even GREATER then you thought. It is fantastic. It is a first class box set. The best that Dylan has ever sounded. When he sings "even the president of the united states has to some time stand up naked", I am there. At that concert. Except, the sound here is soooo much better. It is astonishing. We are hearing a recordings, from close to 50yrs ago, that has never sounded so goog(GREAT, FANTASTIC,extraordinary, etc). A most have. No down side. A bargin. I am hooked all over again. And it is fantastic. *****
Notec -thanks for the post on Vedder's "Into the Wild". Pop culture often zips by me...I didn't even know about the movie. Great film, but even better soundtrack, and excellent album package. I'd always hoped Eddie would do something like this. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
