What is the highest quality digital music file? Where can I get it?

I was reading a forum from another site suggesting that streaming was fine for background but not good enough for serious listening. I realize that there are lots of opinions out there but it made me question my source. Currently, I am set up to stream only using Qobuz through a Bluesound node. I have a CD player but no media at the moment. For quality of sound, am I better off with other sources? If so, where do I get them?

Qobuz sound quality is pretty darn good. Keep the Node and add a external DAC’s within your budget. If you afford it, grab this DAC before it’s gone, you won’t regret it!

To upgrade to a better streamer or external DAC you are probably talking $1000 minimum. You can buy a LOT of CD's for $1000 espescially second hand. Buy 1 CD to stsrt and compare it to the streaming version in your rig. At the end you will know what to do. You OWN physical media which is nice. I hate it when a straming vendor suddenly drops a track or album I favorited.

I plan on buying a few CDs to test quality. It's good to hear opinions of streaming quality vs other formats being new to it. Also to hear what gear pairs nicely.

The bluesound sounds way better with a good dac. My node 2 sounded okay with the analog outputs but it was lacking details air and speed, I added a tube dac into the mix now it's so much better. I also noticed that if I tried using the node 2's tone controls the soundstage shrank considerably.
