Warning when trying Innuos PhoenixUSB

Let it warm up before judging it.  Minimum 48 hours.

When I first got mine I did not like the sound and I posted about it - things sounded unnatural and not pleasing.  After 48 hours of running it, I found all the issues were gone and it sounded fantastic.

I just received it back from Innuos for some repairs. USB connectors and power connector had to be replaced due to being loose as mine was a dealer demo unit.  Repair costs were minimal although I was a bit disappointed that Innuos told my my unit wasn’t covered under warranty as it was a demo unit.

I was excited to reintroduce the PhoenixUSB to my system and…  it sounded bad again. I had actually forgotten how much I didn’t like it’s sound at first.  So I ran it for about 60 hours playing at the lowest problem and totally avoided listening.  Came back to it after the 60 hours and it’s back to the sound I love.

Once warmed up, it’s not as if you need to keep running music through it.  You just need to keep it powered on.

So for anyone trying this, you need to make sure it’s warmed up for at least 48 hours, preferably longer.

Im thinking to buy the Phoenix to replace Micro usb3 from ifi. Thank you for the tip. Once burned in, does it still require a warm up time to sound its best or recommend to leave on 24/7?

So now you leave it plugged in between playings and that keeps it ready to go?  I probably couldn't plan my listening sessions 3 days in advance.

Yes, no need to plan listening in advance lol! There is an on/off switch on the back of the unit and if you have it powered it remains ready to go.  You aren’t meant to turn it off between listening sessions.

The warmup is just a concern when assessing the unit when deciding whether to purchase it, or if you’ve bought one and are trying it out for the first time.
