CAMBRIDGE AUDIO CXC V2 EXPERIENCE

JUST OPENED UP A NEW CAMBRIDGE CSC V2 A COUPLE DAYS AGO AND THOUGHT TO SHARE A FEW IMPRESSIONS.

1.  THE UNIT CAME DOUBLE BOXED AND SHEATHED IN A CLOTH PROTECTIVE BAG.  ABSOLUTE PRO PACKAGING.

2.  THE TRANSPORT LOOKS BEAUTIFUL AND FEELS SOLIDLY BUILT.  IT IS FULL SIZED, AND NOT LIKE THE SMALLER PRO-JECT OR CYRUS CD TRANSPORTS.

3.  AFTER LETTING THE TRANSPORT WARM UP FOR A FULL DAY, I TRIED PLAYING A FEW CDS - WHAT STANDS OUT FOR ME IS THE BASS RESPONSE UNDER 60Hz BEING WELL FLESHED OUT AND THE SUSTAIN OF BASS NOTES ARE EASILY NOTICED.  THE DETAILS ARE ALSO VERY CLEAR AND SOUND NATURAL, NOT ETCHED.  THE UPPER MIDS AND HIGHS ARE EXTENDED AND HAVE A NICE SHEEN TO THEM.  THE HIGHS COULD BE SOFTER, BUT THAT IS EXPECTED AFTER SOME BURN IN.

4.  A CLEAR IMPROVEMENT OVER MY PREVIOUS TRANSPORT, IN TRANSPARENCY AND PACE AND A BIT OF A SHOCK TO HEAR SUCH A DIFFERENCE WHEN WE ARE ESSENTIUALLY TALKING 0 AND 1S.  TOP AND BOTTOM END EXTENSION IS CLEARLY SUPERIOR WITH THE CAMBRIDGE.

WISH LIST - IN THE BEST SCENARIO, THE TRANSPORT WOULD HAVE A TOUCH OF WARMTH IN THE MIDS AND MORE AIR BETWEEN THE NOTES.  THE BASS WOULD BE MORE VISCERAL AND A TINY BIT OF SPRKLE ON THE VERY TOP.

ALL IN, A NICE TRANSPORT FOR $700.

Did you hit the all caps key by mistake?  At any rate I agree with you about CA as a company and the transport which I demonstrated one.  If you need a streamer DAC combination consider the CXN 60
