Opinions on system replacement

Looking for some friendly input.

In a nutshell: I am considering selling my Peachtree Audio Nova 150 based system and buying a Marantz PM8006 Integrated, and a ND8006 cd/ streamer.

In addition to the Nova 150 I would also sell my Rotel 1072 CD player and Node2 streamer. I will keep my Rega P3, an old Denon cassette, and Sennheiser headphones.

My speakers are “modified” Monitor Audio Studios. They are “bright” and I think too bright for my Nova.

I know the Marantz are not the end all be all system for everyone. I do like the warm Marantz sound I have heard, and think they would be a better match for my speakers. I am in my mid 60’s and my hearing while good is not what it used to be.

The Marantz components retail for $1500 each, and can be found for +- $1k being used/refurb or thru discount dealers. These two components make a nice clean package which appeals to me.

I don’t love my speakers and will consider replacing them at  some point and had originally considered replacing them first. My listening room is small- 10’x11’.

As I said before I’m just looking for some input.

The Marantz units make a fine looking pair but for sound quality I would pick one of my favorites the musical Fidelity M3si or Rogue Sphinx.

Speaker are where we couple (impedance match) the electrical energy to the acoustic.

If you don’t like your bright speakers, then I would not try to spice them with warm gear. Just sell them and get better speakers.
To put off that reality is not going to help in the long term (IMO).

Simplifying the stack, and getting rid of stuff you do not use, is also a way to help fund better speakers.
