Sad state of affairs when the peanut gallery can't give advice and instead insult or joke ad nauseum.

imho quite the contrary, all comments made here in response to the op are deserved, and fun to read

Hello,

Spend $50k on room treatment and buy your favorite $50k speakers. It won’t matter because your room will be perfect for almost all speakers. My favorite are Sonas Faber. I don’t own them, but I love their sound. The room is just as important.

Hello MjBishop

We have similar systems, I’m in the process of trading up from Boulder 2060 to 2160- i would highly recommend this. I sent my 2060 back for repairs after my cat puked on it, Boulder kindly replaced the damaged main board with that from a 2160. I was gobsmacked at the improvements. For me the upgrade meant committing half of my income for three years, I’m now two years down, eleven months to go...

I find the combination of Boulder amp and Focal Utopias to be sublime. I’ve used Stella Utopias for about a decade now and only began to consider replacements recently, and I’m leaning heavily to dipoles or omnis.

As of now my leading contenders are the Bayz omnis and the more conventional Avalon Isis, which I’m told have just had a major upgrade. Both play ~$130k.

Slightly more tentatively, to my own ears i prefer a valve pre-amp combined with Boulder power amp. I use the Wavac pr-t1, if i was based in the US i would try the VAC pre- amps with the Boulder power amp, see how they play together.

Wishing you all the best....and don’t forget grounding solutions. I’m a Tripoint - Entreq user, with Entreq cabling- so natural sounding, with mind- boggling bass in a system as capable as yours☺

@verdantaudio    Yeah those those 109db sensitive Avantgarde Trios would be the perfect match for Boulder 2160s😁
