Very sad. Great artist, and Return to Forever (w/ Stanley Clarke, Lenny White and others) was an outstanding band.

Oh no. , still blown away every time i listen to his playing, his youtube series over the last year was great to watch too.  I still get a rush every time i listen to any of his fender rhodes playing on the miles davis electric albums. RIP Chick.

Confirmed. There really are no words. Just a giant for me personally, across multiple decades. His recent work with Bela Fleck was some of my favorite.

i just saw him in concert only about a year and a half ago at sfjazz center - it was a brilliant show with a young trio and he was totally engaged, vibrant and chatty as always -- what a wonderful person and spirit

so sad to hear he passed - his talent was enormous, he was kind, accessible and positive, and he helped launch so many young artists into the jazz world
