Hey K.....tt, Do you even have speakers??

If so, please enlighten us all as to your current system!  My guess is casio clock radio, on isolation platforms in a tuned room of course!

I was just reflecting on 9 years of this hobby, and every pair of my 50+ speakers has brought me immense satisfaction.  Why are you so sad and disgruntled but more importantly, if you hate hifi, mainly speakers, why do you come here?

"yes most diy designs are just glorified mdf cabinets. "

While at one time a few years ago I was up to almost 150 pairs, I am now hoarding about 50 pairs. Ten pairs are set up in six rooms plus front yard and back yard. I still have the second pair of speakers that I bought, JBL L-150s from Illinois Audio in Downers Grove (IIRC). The first pair were passed along to a buddy who kept them for almost forty years. I’ve tried 15-20 brands over the years. There was a much greater jump in sound quality from the hifi consoles of the fifties to those JBL L-150s of 1976 than in the 43 years since, IMO. Many of the speakers that I bought in the 80s, 90s, 00s are long gone, but what appears to be my ending collection of setup speakers (given my age and health) isn’t far removed from starting point. I’ve gotten a tremendous amount of enjoyment out of almost all of them and am now almost completely free of the itch to buy anything else. I don’t believe I would be able to make any significant improvements over what I have now.  After almost 50 years, wife still hasn’t complained.
