Klipsch FII's with mods vs. FIII's

I am not sure if I should buy a pair of Klipsch Forte II's and do a Crites crossover and Ti  tweeter upgrade, or get a used pair of Forte III's. I read that the III's have an upgraded mid horn, has a better crossover and titanium tweeters. It would run about $1600 more for the III's after the FII upgrades. Question is, do I approach the sonic quality of the III's for less money upgrading the II's?  Is it close enough to save the bucks and use elsewhere? I'll be powering them with an integrated Mac 6200 putting out 75w/8 ohms.
Thanks

I just took delivery of a pair of forte IIIs a couple of days ago. I have never heard the II, but am very familiar with the original forte with driver upgrades and ALK xovers.

The III is such an improvement that it would be hard to recommend the older version unless $$ is an issue. Buy the III and dont look back, its that good.

Ozzy, thanks.
So what are you coming off of speaker wise?  Are the III's blowing you away compared to some comparably priced 3-ways?
Here are the last few speakers i have owned.

GR Reseach Super V
Reference 3a Grand Veena
Cornscala
Tekton Pendragon
Piega P10
Wilson Sophia

I wouldnt say the forte III blows them away, but they are very, very good.

Cornscala's, interesting. Ok, let me say, I'm not big on change if I like what I got. I have the same system since 1980 with ADS 1230's. I moved into a new house with a different dynamic in the listening room, Vaulted ceiling, glass, open room on right channel, furniture, etc.  Anyways, it's not sounding as good as it did before the move. Speakers have never been recapped. Could that be the difference? 38 years?  Wish I could do an A/B.
