Zu Soul Superfly

I just ordered a pair of the new Zu speakers on a whim. I was going to wait for information, but the fact that they threw in the free superfly upgrades to the first 30 people got me.

From a similar thread it sounds like some of you guys have heard the speaker despite information only being released today. I'm wondering what you can share about it?

Also, I am really hoping it works with a Firstwatt F1 amplifier. Can anyone comment as to that? I know the Druid's and Essences worked OK.

Superfly's on the way! All because of u guys. Never heard of them until I came across this thread. Dam u guys!
SE Michigan guy? me too, Macomb county. Got a pair of Superfly's on Black Friday. Not sure when they ship. There going to have to beat down my Totem Forest to stay. Running off a Peachtree Idecco. I'm thinking there going to do just fine. Keep us posted, what are u running them with?
Pardales, how is that Miniwatt working for u, thinking about getting one. Would not be able to run a sub from it though, like I do with the idecco & Totem Forest. I know nothing about tubes but I'm curious. I know, might not need a sub with the Superfly but i think a sub always makes a difference. Bob
Where is everybody? How are all those burned in Superflys sounding? Still waiting on mine from BF!
Secretchimp99 - Awesome! thats what I like to hear. Mine were delayed because I opted for the walnut finish with black trim which should look spectacular. Speaking of SET amps, I'm curious too. Never owned a tube anything except my idecco which isn't the same. I've been reading good things about Decware amps & think it could be a good match but we'll see after I've had them awhile. Thanks for posting & keep em coming.
Troy, I've had my Superfly's for almost a month & I couldn't be happier. Sound is very dynamic, clean & detailed. I'm a big Totem fan, having owned the Model 1 & now the Forest, so clean dynamic sound is what I'm after & the Zu's have it in spades! As far as low level listening, I'm listening to Radio Paradise on my Squeezebox Touch right now through my Peachtree ideeco with the volume at about 7 o'clock with 6 being off & it sounds full & detailed..awesome! If u want to rock like I do sometimes, volume at 11 or 12... u better close the doors & windows. These speakers r like Totems on steroids! Must be the 10" full range driver. BTW a lot that is said in these forums is true as far as break in & placement. Mine r still breaking in, maybe 300 hrs & getting better. Played around with toe in & once u find the right spot & they lock in you'll know it!
Atmasphere is right about the Totems needing power. When I had the Model 1, I was running them with a big Aragon amp & they were fantastic. Same with the Forest. This full range thing is a whole new game & I'm diggin it. Down the road I will be trying some tube amps, which is recommended. Another big tweak... can't wait!
Welcome to the club Troy! Definitely keep us posted. U won't be disappointed. Sold my Totems last week, they served me well & I enjoyed them for years, but these Superflys are definitely a step up. Looking for a tube amp to work with my idecco. Decware seems to be in my price range at the moment. I also have the mission cables on the way. To think that these can sound better with a few upgrades is hard to imagine... but I can't wait!
Egrass21, I have a Cayin A55t on the way. My first tube amp. I'll let u know how it sounds with my Superflys.
So whats going on with all the Superfly people? I'm running mine with a Cayin A55t tube integrated, Peachtree idecco, Sqeezebox Touch, Cambridge Audio 640c CD & a Rel t3 sub. Everything sounds great. Sometimes a little bright if i go loud. Thinking of trying a different amp. I really like to try a Decware. Where's Gopher at? He got me going on these Superly's
I agree with both Gopher & Morganc, placement can be tough. I moved my furniture around a bit for a different look for the Christmas tree and all and things sounded better! Nice surprise. Gopher,I read about u using some Wywire cables in place of Zu mission cables that I use too. Is there a big diff in the sound? I'm just reading up on the Wywires, there not cheap. Also interested in the Eastern Electric minimax dac to maybe replace my idecco. Although I use the idecco in the summertime so I don't have to run the Cayin tube amp. Any thoughts on that swap? Good to hear from u Zu guys. Happy Holidays.
Welcome back Gopher! I checked out your system over at AC, lookin real nice! Always liked the gloss black finish. I might have to look into those nanotech drivers myself as I'm still amazed with the sound of my Superflys. Hard to imagine they could sound better. Keep us posted.
