Won’t say it was necessarily my fave, but the Boulder components room on the ground floor with the Wilson Audio Watt Puppy speakers was a revelation. To my ears, it’s the most immersive 2-channel setup I’ve ever heard. Not just soundstage width/height — or depth between me and the speakers... I was hearing a lot of detailed depth behind and above me. While you could focus and perceive the speakers, if you just checked-out and let the music wash over you, it felt like you were sitting inside a "room of music" rather than in front of stereo speakers.
Your Favorite Room at AXPONA 2025?
I am interested to get other's impressions of what they heard at AXPONA this year. What was your favorite room?
I visited just about every room had AXPONA, and there were a lot of really good systems. However, my favorite by a long shot was the Margules room. The combination of their Class A tube amplifiers, and the Century Overture speakers was absolutely amazing. The sound was so smooth and natural, with a deep and wide soundstage, the best I heard at the show.
Runner up was my favorite last year, that was Choice Audio and Well Pleased Audio's room showing the QLN Reference speakers along with the new Merason Mountain DAC and Vinnie Rossi amplification. Again really great natural sound, but Margules upstaged them by a bit.
