Yamaha CT-7000: How to Improve Reception?

Hi everyone,

I have a Yamaha CT-7000 tuner which has been professionally serviced and functions superbly. However, I’m not quite sure how to go about improving the reception I get with it. I get quite a few stations and they all sound excellent. However I know there are quite a lot more radio stations in this city, and I’d like to pick up the more obscure stations available. How does one improve the reception? What is the ideal placement for an antenna? Should I be looking for some specialized type of antenna component? I’m currently using a basic wire antenna (it’s two wires in a translucent plastic jacket in the shape of a T; I’m not sure what the name for it is).
